on/off road tires

I will not except it with goodyears is there any other choice?

I will not pay 40K for a new truck with crap tires----I did it last time not doing it again...

Has anyone made the dealer swap them out to somthing else

like michelins/BFG's or NO DEAL?

Have you talked to your dealer? Each is independently owned and operated.

There are like 3 threads on this right meow. IMO take it to Discount Tire, they'll probably give you better $ for the factory tires and I would rather deal with discount as far as road hazard warranty, etc.

This is just like in 2000 with the firestone debacle. They gave me $0 for my stock tires at 15k. Sucked it up and put on larger BFGs

GM vehicles didn't have the issues with the Wilderness tires. Mainly Ford and their low pressure recommendations for said tires causing the problems. I was worried about that as well for my 99. Dealer and Firestone said the GM vehicles weren't affected. Got nearly 50k miles on those OE tires. Doubt these RS-As will make it much past 30k.

No I know, but the bad press created a lot of commotion. I hated the tires because they had no traction at the time. Tried to get some $$$ for them but no one wanted them including tire dealers because of the wilderness name.

To the OP have you driven a truck with the stock tires or are you taking a few reviews and running with "I hate the tires"?

The SRAs on my 2006 were less than 50% at 20k. I ditched them at that point because traction was terrible and they were costing me lots of money in flats. Could have bought another tire with all the money I spent on flats.

I was concerned at the time because of a 750 mile trip I was taking. Up until this new truck, I'd actually had great service out of the Destination A/T and more recently the LE. I do remember the widespread panic that it caused with most Firestone owners at the time.

I've noticed most SR-As, even on other makes, round very quickly on the edges.

They were actually wearing perfectly, other than too fast and full of holes, haha. This pic shows it better. If you look at the left side of the pic you can see the depth better. New ones on top for comparison.

I have Bridgestone Duellers on my current truck and hate them. The Goodyear wranglers on my old truck were awesome. Got 76k out of them and they still had some meat on them. I ended up replacing them because they started to split after I overloaded the truck.

The best tires are the round ones. Seriously. A perfectly round tire would have zero road force variation, an ideal number. Assuming the thread design provides good traction in all conditions and has a good wear rating, this is your ideal tire. Practically all tires are slightly out of round. A well made tire will have a very low road force variation number, such as 2 or 3 lb, maybe 5 or 6 for a light truck tire. This variation in force occurs when more force is seen by the machine as the high spot in the tire contacts the machine roller. So the road force variation number is a function of out-of-roundness of a tire.

Took my 14' Sierra directly off the lot after purchase to discount tire. I was given $400.00 for the stock "racing slicks" and just paid the difference for BFG All-Terrains. I will not buy any other tire, although it took forever to get a set of 285/55R20's. You would think they are made out of gold considering the price I paid for them!!!
