I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2014 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Short Box SLT 4WD. It has the SLT Crew Cab Value Package as the only added Option. Selling Price after rebates and incentives is $37,906 (MSRP $47,500). The only option I wish it had were the Bucket Seats with center console in front. Does anyone know if it is possible to switch out the center part of the front bench and put in the center console? This dealership has the lowest prices I have seen and for me to get an SLT on their lot with bucket seats, it will cost an extra $2,000. I would also not be able to get the Iridium color that I want. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

Buy it the way you want from the beginning as it will save you time money and headache. You can always use the price you have been quoted as a negotiating tool for the one you want at another dealer.

I thought I'd like the jump seat on mine but, I'd prefer the console in retrospect. I'm not sure but, I think it was said somewhere that it's not an easy feat on the K2's to swap the console in.

my 2014 double ltz appears to have 4 bolts holding the console to the hump on the floor....it's kinda weird how if you were to remove the center, you'd wind up with two seats. like buckets. I really don't understand gm....they have the best truck on the market, but do stupid things . not being to order the options I wanted is whacked out. are the people running gm taking pills that we have never heard of? i ordered my truck with a bench, but don't see how my bench is really a bench at all. i am a big and tall guy and my left shoulder touches the pillar and my right elbow is kinda jammed against the console.....i think they should make a truck that can seat people not test dummies....has anyone heard of or seen a 6'5 and 350lb. test dummy? small people have small minds, i know because i measured one once.. i guess i'll have to get out my sawsall and cut out a place in this truck for me to sit. women and midgets should go back to the kitchen and circus respectively.

Here's a couple pics with my console removed. The dash has a bracket that protrudes where the front of the console bolts to. There were four floor bolts and two in the dash.

Basically you'll need to replace part of the dash.

Order one with buckets, they will deal, just give the negotiation time. They wear you down on purpose, remember to walk away and call them back in a week.

Had a body shop order a console for me last week. Should be in and put together by middle of next and install week of 4/7. What part of the dash will I need to replace? Did the USB and 110v connections match up with little trouble?

The dash is the same, when i looked it up at work it looked as though you need to buy the console housing the pockets the brackets, trim and the lid all separately. I also was looking at buying a truck with the fold down seat with the plan of just ordering the console. it was cheaper to just buy a truck with the full featured bucket seats as an option to get the console. I am in Canada so build lists may be different then U.S.

I ordered a full center console from GM and I hope it fits in my single cab

What's the part numbers? Dealer is saying they can't get it

    • I have thought an EV might have some practical value in extending the life of the ICE members of ones fleet. Now....I'm convinced of it. I've been letting my better half access Raven (Mitsubishi Mirage) for her needs while Dizzy has been in the shop. Being the fuel freak I am and given the fact Raven is capable of over 60 mpg in clean air on a warm day I was taken back by the wife's ability to take a car that had used a half a tank of gas that to that point had returned a value of 57 mpg and return in with a decimating 51 mpg for that same tank in that same day in a 15 mile round trip of short hop errands and a stop in the drive through at Micky D's.  😱   Trust me on this. It would take the remainder of that tank driven on the highway to return that tank to just 54 mpg. This is not a Mitsubishi issue. This is an ICE issue that is magnified in vehicles capable of such high fuel economy values. On a percentage basis your 1500 does the same thing. Short hopping an ICE consumes a good deal more fuel and in doing so provides zero additional useable outputs. That entire volume of fuel is wasted in diluting the cylinder walls oil films, creating crankcase moisture and acid content and the resultant wear.    Enter the SLATE. All of that is avoided and the ICE's advantage in range and made useful at reduced wear for your ICE!   Kind'a cool.
    • Back in the day people would buy cars based on performance. The charger posted does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. And it’s fully loaded.  It has a decent warranty and will fit most anyone’s needs. Remember the original Hemi? 90 day warranty. 25K mini truck or that car? I’d go with the car. It wouldn’t fit my perimeter. If I could just talk my wife out of her Genesis. It would be perfect for her.
    • Let's pivot this back. Someone said they wanted pictures.   Even better, there's already video. Pre-prod prototypes are already on the road and they're letting the press drive them.   JerryRigEverything did a good review. I really enjoy his content and EV adventures, so I was thrilled when he had the chance to review a Slate:
    • The Charger EV was stillborn. Wrong car at the wrong price for Dodge's intended audience. Now at a good price with fire-sale discounts, and still not selling, it's still very much the wrong car. Again, Dodge's intended audience. I believe a lot of Stellantis' EV blunders were all under Tavares' regime at Stellantis...the board convinced him to move on. Neat car, just wasn't received on the level that would sustain mass production.   Dodge is headed in a better direction for its core business. I didn't think there was anything left to get excited about re: the Durango after its 15 year run, but they're just now releasing a 392 version that should price out in the low 40's. Nicely done. I'm not sure I would touch anything Stellantis makes with a 10' pole these days, but the Durango is still mostly parts designed like 3 parent companies ago so maybe it's still OK?
