http://s1350.photobucket.com/user/Fyi_live/media/image_zpse30938a4.jpg.html someone took this pic at the auto show in Detroit.... Maybe just a show of their Worldwide models, maybe not but that's the "Global" Ranger at the top left.... I figured they would wait and see how Colorado did...

I always found it interesting how the Ranger just sold. It was neglected and still sold. then, when they were talking about bringing that Global vehicle here as the F-100 (so they can keep their BS "F Series" sales crown) all the fan boys they surveyed said that the F-100 better better seat this and tow that and have a cargo capacity of X basically an F-150 so that idea was scrapped...

I don't know what is more pathetic about Ford on the issue-

#1 they cling to that best selling truck thing like it matters when GM provides trucks suited to everyones taste regardless of being able to say they are the best seller.

#2 they killed off Ranger because it was cannabalizing F150 Sales

#3 Ford thought Ranger buyers who were buying on price would go with the Fiesta or Transit connect...... Guess what Ford, It looks like they are going to Nissan and Toyota... and soon GM

there are some people out there who DO NOT NEED a full size truck but still want a truck that can tow a small trailer or haul a load in the bed; and the Colorado/Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, and the Nissan Frontier are there to fill that gap.

Those small diesel engines are amazing. It is really messed up they are not selling these in the USA.

The US has different diesel emissions regs than the rest of the world so that's one issue and second is price/ability- many of the overseas trucks have rather high payload ratings despite their smaller size and they so are probably just as expensive, if not more money in some cases than American style fullsizes.

of course, but to kill off the trucks just because of their stupid sales claim..... Theres a guy at work thats driven them since the 80's he drives them until they are shot. he's got a nice 06 extended cab 4x4 only got about 60k he's also got one of the last ones loaded in his garage with under 1000 miles on it... he starts it up regularly keeps a battery tender on it and drives it every now and then. I asked him why he bought it when he is known to not really care about his trucks he drives them maintains them until they die and buys another... he told me he bought one of the last ones because he won't be able to buy anything like that when his 06 dies...Ford has lost many Loyal customers to Nissan and Toyota as many people that bought rangers on price bought them because they didn't want a big truck

I like that GM is bringing out the midsizers and I hope they do well. I did notice the ext. cab has suicide doors... that's nice as 2 guys at work don't want "the baby crew cab" with the 14, but want the backseat (for their guns/bows in hunting season) and thats probably a great fit for them
