4wheeler or side by side?

Looks good. In my opinion the Grizzly is better in every respect than the outlander except power. I have heard the 2014's do have more power. Same engine, Yamaha figured out how to get more power out of it. Since its the same engine as in the Viking, they needed to do something if they were going to stick with a 700 cc single cylinder or still have a very slow newly designed side by side just like the rhino. I've heard it doesn't help much at top end but low end and mid range are supposed to be noticeably improved. 65 mph is still pretty fast but its not 75-80 like the outlander would do. Probably fast enough for a utility atv anyway.

I'm going to agree that 65 is plenty fast enough. It's kinda scary going 70+ on a quad. I actually pulled mine out yesterday and that thing is a rocket. Cracked 60 just in a small straight away in my neighborhood. Now wonder my neighbors don't like me lol

I had a 660 grizzly before and there are a few times that diff lock was the difference between making it and winching out. I remember one steep, muddy hill that diff lock was the only way to climb it because where it was, you couldn't just get a run at it and use momentum. Yes, if you don't go through much deep mud, diff lock won't be used much. Honda still doesn't put it on any of their models. They claim their 4x4 system is sufficient without a diff lock option. Id recommend getting a winch if you don't already have one. Even if you don't get stuck, you might need it to pull someone else out.

Thanks man. That's another big reason why I went with Yamaha than a Kawasaki, Polaris, or Can Am. I love their 4WD setup & push button diff lock too! Plus has brakes on both sides and it feels like I have more control than the Outty. I ride a lot of steep and small trails. I think the Grizzly would do significantly better.

Also on Hondas, they did put a diff lock on their new '14 Foremans. They look really nice! I've always had Hondas before. Now I got a Yamaha!

Which winch should I get?

A warn xt 3000 would be good for that ATV.. Wouldn't want any less then a 3000lb winch for that size atv. Warn is the only way to go.

I hate the diff lever the kawi has! It is just a dumb design. I also think the single brake lever on the can am is not a great Idea but that's just me. The locking diff isn't really nessecary to have but it actually has gotten me out of a few situations before. Suzukis Have the same 4wd setup at the yamahad

I agree the single brake is weird. I'm going to be splitting mine when i get some extra coin and when i feel like really tearing into it

Some people say that their Customer Service is horrible and you're just paying for the Warn name. I'm considering the 3000 Warn, Super Winch Terra series or Viper winches, no idea what to get. I don't wanna pay no more than $300-350 max for one.

I was gonna do the same if I got one. I guess I don't gotta worry about that anymore.

I think my 660 grizzly had a 3000 lb viper winch on it with synthetic cable, which is basically rope. Bought it pretty cheap off ebay but that was about 5 years ago, was about $160 back then. Probably cost a little more now but still much cheaper than a warn though probably wont last as long. 3000 lbs sounds like overkill on a winch but remember a grizzly with a full tank of gas weighs about 700 lbs and add your weight and anything you might be hauling and you could easily get over 1000 lbs. And you need extra pulling power if you're stuck in mud because you're going to be pulling the mud directly in front of your tires too and to overcome the suction of the mud. Also you might have to pull uphill sometime as well which takes extra pulling power too.

You're exactly right, bud. I was gonna least go with a 3000 lbs, which. If I get a Viper one, I'll go with their best models. On Warn the Pro Vantage series a lot better than just

Vantage ones. Or maybe I'll look into the Superwinch Terra series.

Yeah, probably a better choice, the cheaper winches won't last as long. Still not all that expensive, saw some warn vantage 3000 lb winches for just under $400 on ebay. I remember Yamaha used to have promotions where they would include a free winch with the utility models, that's how my buddy got his warn winch with his 660 grizzly. You'd think Yamaha would have a package similar to the outlander XT package with a winch and more aggressive tires and maybe some beefier bumpers. Those are probably the 3 most purchased accessories for utility atvs and usually when you can buy the total package you can get a better deal.

Once again man you're right lol. I wish Yamaha would do a package deal like Can Am. I need a winch, tires, bumpers and better skid plates. I'm gonna get on Amazon/Ebay later to see what I can find. Which would you prefer?

I remember having a set of itp 589 tires for my 660. Mud Lite XL's are good too, my buddy had those on his 660. I just kept with stock size. I forget what kind of bumper I had but the factory bumper gets dented up pretty easily. I think it was like a moose utility bumper or something like that. I didn't have skid plates for the frame, had some aluminum a-arm guards but I eventually took those off because all they did was get caked up with mud and had to constantly clean them out. Id check out rocky mountain atv, until the end of the month all their warn winches are on sale. This looks like a pretty good deal here http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3226/44609/WARN%C2%AE-Vantage-Winch-with-Wire-Rope-and-Mount-Plate?v=11327 They've got some deals on tires too. Mud Lite Xl's are on sale. If you didn't want something quite as aggressive, the Mud Lite AT's are a good all around choice and they've got some really good prices on those too. They've also got the top of the line provantage warn winches on sale too as I know you mentioned those in an earlier post. I think the only bumper I saw was a warn bumper that fits over your stock bumper for $185.99 but its currently out of stock until May 18.

Well buddy....You said on sale till end of the month, but I don't get paid till May 1st. So, Idk what to do in that scenario. I think I just might go with the Zilla's in 27s or 26s XLs. I had the Mudlites AT on my Honda Rancher. They did pretty good. My cousin has some Mud Bugs on his Foreman and go very well. I guess I'm gonna get Zillas, XL Mudlitesor Bighorn's.

I'm sure they'll be some kind of deal next month too. Bearclaws are pretty good too and last a long time. Really can't go wrong with any of them. I thought about getting the Zilla's for my griz but I got the 589's from a friend almost brand new for a price I couldn't pass up. The Bighorns are great for harder packed trails but don't do as well in mud. I had a set of mudlite AT's on the back a Suzuki Ozark and that really helped a lot, thought I bought it with worn out rear tires so anything would have been an improvement.

Do they make a Pro Vantage Warn 3000? I know the Vantage they do. What's the difference between the two? Also, I've got so many tire ideas it's crazy! If they offered an Outlaw Radial in 12s instead of 14s. I would get it. But I don't wanna go up to 14" wheels. Or should I wait till after they wear down some?
