If there is a manufacturers defect, they should let you know asap.

lets say 1 out of 1,000,000 trucks catch on fire with and issue gm knows about. What if its your truck that catches fire?? What if it burns down your house with family inside.

With your logic, the local volunteer shouldnt hurry when there is a fire call, because its probably just another false alarm.

OK, lets play your "what if" and "let's say" game. You are 47 times more likely to get murdered than your one in a million truck fire.

GM is doing everything humanely reasonable to get the recall info out there and notify people.

After reading about a truck that burned up in Houston. http://www.chron.com/cars/article/Houston-man-s-pickup-burns-half-hour-after-he-5152922.php I went to the Dealer yesterday evening and got my truck taken care of. It only took 30 minutes or less...

I have noticed that the truck stays in V8 mode more now and when it does drop to V4 it stays longer.

I had not yet received an email or letter, nor had the Remote link App or Onstar made any note of the recall. Seems like GM should have the ability to contact us through apps. emails etc. especially when it involves a risk of burning up a vehicle. Does this fall to the dealerships to notify customers or does it fall to GM?

Your truck gets left running for a long period inside your house that is also at sub-zero temperatures? That's the only way it would burn your house down. The recall is because of trucks idling 20-30 minutes or longer in sub zero temperatures.

That truck fire was proven to be caused by a poor install of aftermarket stereo equipment, it was just fluke that he'd gotten his recall notice that day.

You obviously dont know much about how a fire can spread. If your truck caught on fire outside of a building, it could easily catch the house or structure on fire as well. Different building materials, the heat of the fire, wind, etc. would all be factors. Why take a chance???

I would think GM and burning Silverados would be a priority especially since they were sued for millions in the 80s for people burning to death from getting T-boned and gas tanks being mounted outside the frames.

That was all proven to be BS. NBC rigged the truck to catch fire for a segment on dateline.

This cost NBC millions and was proven as a rigged truck. They could not replicate it for the courts or GM.

My Sierra Crew Cab was built 06/13, I purchased it on 1/10/14. The day after I purchased it the Exhaust Overheat Recall-14008 was issued. During that time I checked all recall sites and the GM Owners site for additional recalls, none were listed. I decided to go ahead and make an appointment to drop the truck off today to have the Exhaust recall done, even though I still hadn't received an email or letter from GM for the recall.

When I dropped the truck off, my Service Advisor told me 3 additional recalls were being listed: #13330 Fuel Management, #13318 Rear Window Regulator, and #13257 BCM Update. All the update were done in about 90 minutes, but while waiting for the service to be done I got to talking with the Service Advisor. He mention the Fuel Management update and recalibration would effect the engine shifting between V8-V4, and that I may see a little better MPG over time.

I find it odd that a vehicle built in June of '13 would not show any of the listed recalls, on any of the owner or recall sites more than 6 months after it's been built and shipped to the dealer.

I find it odd that the dealership didn't check to ensure all recalls were completed before you drove it off the lot. The fire recall is understandable since it came out the next day but the others should have been done prior to delivery

My truck was built 5/13, and I bought it in July, and mine didn't/still doesn't show up on any of the websites. I had the same four recalls done recently as well. I think this just shows you that you can't rely on the websites for a whole lot of accuracy.

It is odd that the dealer didn't fix the first three issues before they sold it to you though, especially since you bought it so recently.

BCM update was in late August/early September, rest window TSB was November, and the fuel regulator was only recently as well so there was no way for the dealership to do those updates in July...

Agreed, my point was just that I still do not show anything online. I don't think that anyone who has posted has had something show up online yet.

That's why I thought it was strange about the other 3 previous recalls not being done. When i purchased the truck it was late afternoon. The salesman suggested I come back the next afternoon to pick it up. That way they would be able to take their time to go over the truck and "prep the truck ", as he put it, so it would be all ready to go. i know "prep" involves washing it, getting plastic cover off, etc., But I also thought they bring it in the shop to check fluids, tires, make sure all software updates are loaded, etc. Maybe I'm confusing "Dealer Prep" with something else.

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
