just called the dealer, and my truck is on the recall list.

The service guy said that they weren't allowed to sell any of the 14's until the recall was done.

I'm curious as to why GM and/or the dealer didnt notify the customer(me) right away.

If you knew someone's truck you sold them possibly could catch on fire, wouldnt you tell them immediately?

I took mine in yesterday for the recall. The service writer noticed that my sliding rear window was on the list too, so they replaced the window regulator. They did it all while I went across the street and had a nice breakfast. The truck seems the same. I didn't have any issues before so it's just peace of mind knowing the rear window won't stick open and the truck won't catch fire.

GM also owns Jet Puff Marshmellows

What?? Kraft Foods owns them

You guys who keep saying GM should notify you immediately, that's not how it works with any brand. They mail you a letter, plain and simple. And considering how few trucks have burned up I think freaking out is a bit overly dramatic.

If your email was on file they sent you an email. I think many of you have unrealistic expectations. GM is an automobile manufacturer not your mommy. They shouldn't be responsible for holding your hand 24/7...

If there is a manufacturers defect, they should let you know asap.

lets say 1 out of 1,000,000 trucks catch on fire with and issue gm knows about. What if its your truck that catches fire?? What if it burns down your house with family inside.

With your logic, the local volunteer shouldnt hurry when there is a fire call, because its probably just another false alarm.

I would think GM and burning Silverados would be a priority especially since they were sued for millions in the 80s for people burning to death from getting T-boned and gas tanks being mounted outside the frames.

And they've sent out emails and letters. It's not necessary for them to track you down like you're Bin Laden's second in command...

They have given notice. It was in the news, they sent out emails, and letters. They aren't responsible for tracking you down and hitting you over the head with a track hammer until you take your truck in for service...Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

This. Those of us who provided email addresses have received notification. Snail mail notifications have been sent too, if you want it faster, then provide your email address. GM has been pretty quick with it, if that isn't fast enough then the news has advised everyone to contact their dealerships. Most of us received emails the Monday following when the recall went public. I have found their reaction to be plenty sufficient, like most who have posted in this thread.

I haven't received any recall letter.

My point is that if the dealer has to fix all the 2014's on the lot before they can be sold, they should alert someone who bought one of their trucks before the recall.

If you are happy with the way this recall has been handled, that is great.

Jesus Christ dude the letters only started getting mailed out the 16th. So including the 16th that's 4 days that the mail has operated since they started mailing the notices. I guess patience isn't one of your many award winning qualities...

    • First of all sorry, I know there are a ton of transmission temperature threads...   My truck is a 2025 LZ0 High (10l89 10-speed) High Country with NHT max trailering package. The NHT package is supposed to have "enhanced cooling."   Normally the trans temp sits around 200. It seems like with any real stress it quickly jumps into the 220s (for example climbing a grade unloaded at lower speeds). I haven't towed much with this truck, but I'm concerned if it gets this hot unloaded.    I've tried a few different things to keep the temps down (tow/haul mode, sport mode, low range when that makes sense) and nothing seems to affect it.    I'm curious if others are the same behavior or if anyone has found techniques to keep the temps down. It seems like it just can't handle reduced airflow at lower speeds, even with relatively light loading.    Thanks!
    • I'm at 105,000 miles on my baby Duramax. No issues yet. I hit 31 mpg's traveling through hilly terrain to a project in Colorado. I will buy another 3.0. I'm not concerned.
    • I'm glad you have 14,000 trouble free miles. Frankly though, that's a really low bar. A bare minimum of 80,000 trouble free miles as the norm (rare exceptions always exist) across the whole model year should be a starting point. Good maintenance habits should push these past the 100,000 mile mark with only the most minor of issues. Let's hope GM truly leveled up the quality game with these new engines and exploding engines under 50,000 miles are gone.
    • This is exactly the reason our EV has consumed so much of my driving. I don't want to fire up a cold diesel or gas engine just to drive 2 miles up to the store. It's arguably terrible for an engine. If I'm not driving at least 10 miles and don't need to do truck things, the truck stays parked.   Enter the EV. It's immediately heating or cooling the cabin as needed (heat pump). An engine doesn't need to warm up or be driven gently. I can tear off in it with ZERO guilt. Move the car 1/4 mile from store to store and not think "gee, I'm short-cycling a lukewarm engine".   It doesn't idle in a drive-through. Doesn't idle at stop lights. (OK, neither would the diesel, if I let stop-start have its way, but I don't).   Even moving it out of the garage to wash it... HA! It doesn't need to be started just to move 40 feet. I have cars that I will actually put in neutral and push (no start) in/out of the garage or shop if they absolutely HAVE to be moved. My nice Camaros.
