Bridgestone Dueler AT & BF Goodrich AT - Noisey on a 2014?

My truck should be here this week & I think it will come with street tires even though I chose the $200 option for All Terrain tires. I'm probably going to swap them right away. I don't need a really aggressive tire but might get in an occasional bit of mud while hunting. But having a tire that is quiet & handles wet conditions on the highway is a must.

So, can anyone give me advice on the these two tires as to how loud they might be? I'll also consider other options if anyone has suggestions.

I have had Dueler AT Revo tires in years past and though they were a favorite for me, they were a bit noisy. I would suggest going to http://www.tirerack.com, and dig through all the menus and find surveys of tires that would be candidates for you. I am mainly a highway driver, and have a farm, thus the need for the Dueler AT tires years ago.

However, I have found that for the most part SUV-rated tires fit my needs. As soon as the funds fill the coffers here, I'll be replacing these OEM Goodyears with Michelin LTX M/S2 Highway All-Season tires. I have them on a SUV of ours, and it has been a good experience, they are very quiet. The survey at Tirerack has them rated as #1 against the other tires.

Good luck, this is a very expensive purchase. I don't like the Goodyears, but they are not so awful that I can't exercise some patience and raise $$$$ for their replacement.

I'll warn you.. BF all terrains throw rocks like crazy and wear really fast. I had the dueler revo 2's on my last truck, best tires ive ever had for rain, snow, ice, and mud

I think the BFGs wear great. Had over 50k miles on 2 precious sets. Depends how large of a tire you go. My 275/70/18's don't throw rocks as bad as my 285/75/16's did

going to have to disagree with ya, I've gotten over 50k on a couple sets of BF AT/KO and was on track with a couple other sets when I sold those trucks. they are sensitive to air pressure and rotating on schedule but have been the best road usable off road tire I've ever seen.

Quiet & good pavement traction, plus a little offroad you want Michelin LTX AT(2). Had them on a borrowed vehicle, put 2000 miles to and through the Rockies on them. Awesome ride, quiet, they do really well on icy and wet roads. They may not look like much, but Michelin makes good tires. Very efficient tires as well if that matters to you.

I have the Bridgestone AT's on my factory 22's and they are amazing! They're quite and they're the best tires I've ever had in the snow and ice.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say except that I dont think the Revos are loud at all. I've tried several different Wranglers and Duellers and the Revos are by far my favorite. If I go AT after these OEM Goodyears, it will be Revos. Tirerack is a great site for tire info.

Yeah the 285/75/16 is what I ran when I had em... Don't get me wrong, they're great tires... But they sure don't last for me, and they can also destroy paint. I drive on gravel lots though... I'm assuming anyone that gets a tire that aggressive isn't going to be on pavement all the time. They also don;t like lots of highway driving, which I also do a lot of. You have to rotate them religiously to avoid excessive wear. My two cents, take it or leave it. The BFG's ride really really nice though, but that is probably mainly because the rubber is quite soft.

Driving on gravel roads a lot tears tires up quick no matter what kind of tires are on, gravel tears at the tread and takes out small chunks of the tread making them wear quick.

I switched my tires for the Bridgestone Dueler AT. I have 2500 miles on them so far and I am happy, no noise issues or vibrations. I switched tires because I wanted something that is a little better off road, and I was happy with these tires on my 2010 Silverado.

Yes I know that... For some reason people don't want to agree they wear fast. So I won't bother continuing with this thread. The duellers last longer... Period. Over and out.

I dunno man most of the BFG All-Terrain's I've encountered wear like iron. Now are there driving habits that affect that? Yes. Will certain tires wear better for certain driving habits? Yes. Your statement is true and false. They don't last as long for you based on your driving habits...
