My parents ordered their 2014 gmc 1500 6.2 in Sept.

It finally made it to the dealership 3/6/2014.

The dealership said the wait was the engine, then the rear end.

6 months?!? That is a bit extreme.... But does it have a nice rear end? lol

That's funny that you said that. I got the same information.

Got a call from GM tonight.. I have my VIN!!! My TPW is still 3/31... Getting closer!!

If you have a VIN then most likely it is already built, they get assigned a vin number either on the production line or right before the start of production, not 2 weeks before production.

Aaron - I thought the same thing. I even asked the GM rep twice if he was sure the TPW was still 3/31 and he said yes. I also asked what status code it was at but he didn't have that info. I am going to do the chat this morning to see what they say. I will post an update later.

I have the full VIN and I decoded it last night and it matches the config of my truck (chassis, engine, etc.). It is built (or to be built) in Mexico at the Silao plant. Really wish it was built in the USA but I didn't have the ability to pick that when I ordered.

Anyone from GM - can you please comment back if this is normal to get the VIN over a week before the TPW?
