Converting to propane??

Has anyone outthere converted to propane?  I knew a guy who did it (Kinda knew him)  He still pulled heavy loads and USED his truck so i dont think any HP was lost..I have heard that mileage goes down but is it offset by the cost of propane vs gasoline?  Just wondering

At one time it was used in farm tractors to help make them last longer.  Propane burns cleaner than gas.  For some reasons it is cleaner than gas so it runs cooler also.  In a work type truck that I drove for a couple of years it would get about 2/3 of the gas mileage that gas would.  On gas the truck would get about 10 MPG on Propane it would get about 6 MPG.  With gas costing about 0.70 a gallon Propane cost were about 0.40 per gallon.

Propane or CNG does not make nearly the hp or torque that gas or diesel do. I run a few propane and CNG trucks at work and absolutely hate them.

They don't have enough power to pull a sick ##### off the pot.
