Pricing and cab choice

OK I stopped by the dealership this afternoon on the way home they actually had gotten in a couple of the double cab trucks. Had a little sit down in the back seat Hmmm Yup I think I did well with the Crew Cab the Double Cab is pretty darn tight. I might swing the standard bed with the Crew Cab if I had a mulligan but it is too late for me. If a man did not plan on hitting the mall parking lots too often I am sure a Crew Cab with standard bed would be just right. Just as others have stated the parking lots can be tough even with the short bed. I am happy with what I have, my little short bed will do just fine.

i absolutely love my double cab and have no regrets! this double cabs are not like the old extended cab tundra i had, these doors open without the front doors open first and their windows roll down and the space is much bigger! Also, I wanted the 6.6 bed and there was several crew cab long beds on the lot and the wheel base on that truck was just too big for me! My fishing poles and 4wheeler would struggle in that short bed.

Thanks for all the input. I have looked at both cabs and both Chevy and GMC. I like the GMC more but ran into a Chevy 6.2 topaz blue crew cab that I am negotiating on so we will see.

Hi OldGrumpy,

Both trucks are great choices, so either way I bet you’ll enjoy it! If you have any questions along the way feel free to private message us and we will do our best to help out. Keep us updated on the final decision and hopefully we’ll see you in a new truck soon. J

Took the in laws on a ride today. They bitched the entire time about the double cab. I guess in 3 years I'll go back to the crew.

I think that is just a good reason to go with a regular cab over a crew cab

Well the blue topaz was sold before I could make a deal. I am going to order a GMC crew cab SLT 6.2 but was told yesterday that the max tow package is on constraint so it could take a little longer than usual to get it. Now the wait starts

Loved the looks of the double cab, but when it came time to open up the rear door and check leg room, getting in wasn't going to happen without a major struggle.

Since its going to be a daily driver, 80 miles a day, I think a regular cab will do for this round.

It's funny. When I first started driving pick up trucks they all had one bench seat. Then out came extended cabs and they were a hit. Finally you could stash stuff like a suitcase behind the seat and not have to put it in the bed. People could ride back there too. How did we ever live with the old regular cab? What a great idea. Then out came Crew Cabs and most folks thought they were UGLY, at least at first. Fast forward a few years. Now a lot, maybe most, people want a crew cab and turn their noses up at the Extended (Double) Cab. "They are just too cramped." I gotta wonder, what's next?

A Station Wagon. You could fit Grandma and a sheet of plywood in there.
