Has anyone noticed how quiet these things are?

I found the best way to add some nice noise, go back to the dealer and try a C7 with the optional exhaust system and leave the truck alone!

I'm sorry guys, but my only problem with my Denali, was the Quietness! So, less than 24 hours after delivery, I had the exhaust modified, then a few weeks later, added an Airaid CAI System, and performance tuned, and it is still just as quiet, cruising at 70mph, as my wife's '11 E350 Mercedes. Now, when you get your foot in it, or go WOT, the noise level comes up to almost equal my Vette, and that has everything but a cam, and it Pretty Loud. I will say, and have said on here before, at WOT the Airaid system makes more noise sucking air than my modifed catback duals with a magnaflow. I love my truck and I love the way it sounds, and I love the fact that I can control the sound with the throttle. The day I drove it off the lot, it was so quiet, it was disappointing. Oh by the way, I will be 68 in July, so I'm not some young stud who just likes noise, as a matter of fact I can't tolerate it constantly, but I do love the fact that when I want to hear some noise, all I have to do is press the throttle harder. It works for me! I'm not advocating that everyone should modify their exhaust, I'm only sharing my story with fellow truck enthusiasts.

Pretty much the first thing I noticed. And its usually the first thing other people notice when they ride in it for the first time. That and the how great it rides.

These trucks are indeed amazingly quite. I have a Denali CC with everything but rear seat entertainment. I opted for the all terrain ties when I placed the order. It came with Goodyear SRAs that I've decided they used because of how quiet they are. I wanted something slightly more aggressive but still quite & finally decided on the BF Goodrich Rugged Terrains. They are advertised as a quite tire. But, the truck itself is so quite that I hear the tires roar...especially when accelerating & decelerating.

So, if anyone is truly concerned about keeping their truck as quiet as possible, you probably should leave the factory tires on it.

I traded my SR-A's for Goodyear A/T with Kevlar they are quite and a little more aggressive.

My truck is MUCH more quite than my 14 Impala! My wife likes driving around in the truck better than the car for long trips.

I have had lots of new cars but nothing as quiet as this truck (although I refuse to buy a Lexus). It's considerably quieter than our new ATS with active noise canceling. I'm thinking that some of the reasoning is due to the wheel well dampening and some just from quiet rubber but wow impressive.

I traded in a 2013 Lexus GS for my Silverado. Wife drives a 2013 Lexus RX. The truck is easily quieter than both cars. It rivals my 2008 Range Rover.

I felt the same way. Too quiet for my taste and I'm not even a "loud truck" loving person. Added Flowmaster duals with side exit pipes and I am in love!

Just like the Bose headsets work. Sound travels in waves. Invert the phase 180 degrees and the waves' energy will cancel each other out. There's probably a microphone in the cab that listens for certain frequencies, and then the speakers output the inverse of that signal. It's a pretty simple concept, but a little more complicated to implement.

Their are 3 mics, one in the middle of each fold down entry handle mounted in the headliner. And one mounted in the roof above the rear seat.

Interesting... Thanx for the explanation, but what does this have to do with the engine? In an earlier post members were saying they had 5.3 or 6.2 with active noise cancellation.. Or maybe it was just they were talking about two different components..
