Has anyone noticed how quiet these things are?

I have had lots of new cars but nothing as quiet as this truck (although I refuse to buy a Lexus). It's considerably quieter than our new ATS with active noise canceling. I'm thinking that some of the reasoning is due to the wheel well dampening and some just from quiet rubber but wow impressive.

Thats the reasons im afraid to do exhaust lol. I planned on making the truck rumble from the minute I ordered it, but its really nice to have it soo quite. I have the gmc 6.2 with active noise cancellation, I rode in a bare bones chevy 4.3 today, ccouldn't belive how much louder inside it was than mine. It was a base model so no wheel well carpet also it was a double cab and mines a crew (not sure if that matters for sound)

That was one of the main reasons I went with the GM instead of another brand. Very quite.

I cut out a section of carpet under the center console for a subwoofer enclosure and no kidding (with carpet) the material was at least 1 full inch thick, I'm thinking it was recycled denim/poly maybe? It was hard as crap to cut even with the sharpest blade I had. Anyways I love how quiet the truck is. But I live on a very bumpy county road and drive thru a few very bumpy stretches of road under construction and am beginning to dislike the ride a bit. Still quiet though.

This is why I'm hoping corsa does a touring exhaust for these trucks. I want to keep it quiet while cruising, but a little grunt while accelerating. The exhaust can get annoying on long trips. Our families are 4, 5, and 7 hours away.

I doubt you'll have a problem with the sport. The dB exhaust on mine uses the same muffler and it's not bad at all. Even with how poorly the extended cab doors seal out wind noise I can still talk to back seat passengers at speed.

Db isnt out yet. I called Corsa this morning. They said they had a meeting. They are unsure of offering the (in their words) entry level system for the 2014 trucks. They most likely will, but there is no date as of now

My daughter has a 2013 Lexus. Great car, very quiet....but NOT any quieter than my 2014 Silverado!

That doesn't matter. My point is the dB and sport are of similar volume levels and neither should be overbearing.

My cousin said its rides as good and is as quiet as her Lexus GX 460. That is high praise from her.

I just got my 2014 two days ago trading in a 4x4 Tundra on 35" tires and a 3" lift. Before purchase I was considering taking the Silverado to the muffler shop to get an exhaust put on it and then I drove it to work the first day. I will NOT be putting an exhaust on it. Its soooooo quiet. After singing 35" tires and a bumpy suspension with TRD shocks this Silverado is too nice, too soft, and too quiet to screw up.

 

to each their own, or maybe i'm just getting old.

It's not just quiet, but everything, including the steering, is very smooth and refined.

 

Seriously reminds me of luxury cars I have owned.

 

Even the pushrod v-8 is silky smooth.......more so than OHC's in my previous Ford's.

 

Just wish it had a little more throttle tip in......

These trucks are indeed amazingly quite. I have a Denali CC with everything but rear seat entertainment. I opted for the all terrain ties when I placed the order. It came with Goodyear SRAs that I've decided they used because of how quiet they are. I wanted something slightly more aggressive but still quite & finally decided on the BF Goodrich Rugged Terrains. They are advertised as a quite tire. But, the truck itself is so quite that I hear the tires roar...especially when accelerating & decelerating.

 

So, if anyone is truly concerned about keeping their truck as quiet as possible, you probably should leave the factory tires on it.

Another +1 for how quite these are.. Almost TOO quite.

 

The exhaust at idle is next to nothing. All I heard on the trucks we test drove (mine isn't here yet) is the engine noise.

 

There NEEDS to be an exhaust tone on these things. I loved mine on my 2010 Sierra.. These have nothing.

 

Recommendations for aftermarket exhaust?? (Or does that need to be another thread?)
