Has anyone noticed how quiet these things are?

I have had too many performance cars that turn you insane after 20 minutes from the exhaust so this is a really nice treat. Even a Prius is noisier than this truck!

Interesting... Thanx for the explanation, but what does this have to do with the engine? In an earlier post members were saying they had 5.3 or 6.2 with active noise cancellation.. Or maybe it was just they were talking about two different components..

The noise cancellation is a feature only on the 6.2, it simply makes the cabin.of the truck quite. Nothing to do with the engine.

I read that the 6.2L wasn't as quiet as they wanted, so they added the noise cancelling to get the interior as quiet as the 5.3L. The 5.3L doesn't have noise cancelling.

Extremely quiet truck, makes my wife's grand Cherokee feel cheap when I get in it. The only problem I have is trying to track down the rattle that is coming from inside the front seat belt pillar. Only when I hit major bumps like the potholes most of the northeast is experiencing. Maybe I'm just being picky.

I agree on how quiet this thing is! I came out of an 05 GMC with big aggressive tires and magnaflow exhaust. I am getting older too I guess, I am in love with listening to the radio again!

I have a 6.2. It is THE quietest thing I've ever ridden in.

Do I care why? No, this is thing is beast. Life is about compromises and I've chosen my sides. Wednesday morning I broke the rear loose in a big way on dry pavement @ 25 mph in a nearly 3 ton behemoth.

To answer the OP's question directly.....yes, yes I have.

Now that I've had my truck for awhile I think it's time to add some sound. I too enjoyed the quiet but now the ticking noise at idle which is the direct ignition I've heard is a little annoying. i'd rather hear the exhaust note. I'm hoping to have my corsa sport muffler customized to the new truck due to the different inlet and outlet from my last truck. I also saw most who have done the exhaust have removed the resonator too. Wish I could do stainless with the muffler I have but most places use aluminized steel which does rust in the salt belt.

So quiet, but magnaflow gave it the truck rumble it needed. These SRA Goodyear tires blow. Getting AT2 extreme shortly. But it's the best riding truck I've had for mix highway, gravel and pure farm land driving.

For some reason, my wife's beloved 2001 Trans Am (Corsa) sounds louder when I drive it than it did before. Probably 'cause it IS loud, but seems louder after driving this quiet truck. My '11 Silverado had the Banks Power Pack (CAI, Shorty Headers, Monster Exhaust and Tune) installed, so it was a little bit loud too! I just can't bring myself to mess with this one (yet).

I have a 2014 with a build date of Sept 13. I thought it was supposed to be quit but to date I am still trying to get the wind noise / rattle on the driver’s door resolved. Also the amount of rattles in my truck is starting to remind me of the 1980's Camaro rattle boxes.

I have had a few of them fixed but more keep following. I like this truck but you can tell the quality of GM trucks is fading. The dealership that I bought the truck from (Stonebriar Chevrolet in Frisco, TX) is terrible and after multiple times in for these issues they cannot find resolution. So with the road noise from the tires, the wind noise / rattle in driver’s door and interior rattles I cannot agree with most of you.

Stonebriar and Huffines are the closest dealerships to me, but I specifically went across town to buy because of the reputation of these dealerships. Maybe try El Dorado?

I have had my truck in 3 times for rattles coming from the drivers side door. It sounds like loose plastic or a rubber sound. Each time I have taken it in they said that they cant "duplicate" the sound. He did take the door panel off and found nothing loose. To me it seems like the door has a lot of slop in it as when i am driving over bumps the entire door shakes . There is alot of rubber and plastic on these doors and i think that is where the sound is coming from. Anybody else have had this promblem and know what the fix is??

Mine came with the Goodyear SRA's as well and I actually wanted the Goodyear LS2's... traded around and got them and the LS2's are definitely not as quiet as the SRA's but I can't hardly say I'm dissatisfied at all. Its still quiet just not as quiet as it was.

GM Customer Care

Hi Andraya,

With all do respect I have already contacted GM customer care several times and there should be record of this in your system. I have had no luck with this dealership nor GM customer care on my issues. I know at one time GM cared about their customers but the service that I have received since I purchased my new truck has been a joke!

So I spent $40K plus on a truck that has rattles, wind noise, black smoke on start up and backlights behind dials that so not work on my truck but work on other models etc... and GM does not care enough to have an Engineer or someone higher up than a dealership Service manager contact me ( which did not even respond to my 2 page letter at Stonebriar Chevrolet) makes me think I should have bought a Dodge or a toyota.

Look at the recalls you all have going on right know. If you all really cared about the consumer, most of these issues would not even be an item.

Displeased consumer!
