Dumb key fob question

Recommended Posts

I kinda feel stupid asking, but how can I tell which key fob is #1 vs #2? I see no markings.

So, I guess if the truck doesn't know which is which it doesn't matter. Huh. Ok, all of my "old"

GM products with multiple driver memory ALSO knew which key was used and therefore applied those settings.

We take a step back or something?

Yeah unless you have memory seats you don't need to know which key is which. #firstworldproblems

If you have memory seats:

Set seat memory 1 a certain way and seat memory 2 a certain way. Switch to 1.

Then use one of your key fobs and lock or unlock the doors and see if the seat moves. If it moves, that fob is number 2. If it doesn't, that fob is number 1.

Also make sure Auto Memory Recall is set to On in your Comfort and Convenience settings.

Pezboy, that's the process of elimination I was using. But, is the first fob used arbitrarily assigned #1 or did I just get lucky? I guess I'll need to sharpie it on or something.

I didn't think the remotes worked the memory recall as I didn't see them marked either?? So they actually do?

Yup. Just verified it. But you must have Auto Memory Recall is set to On in your Comfort and Convenience settings. I followed what pezboy said to test which remote is set to 1 or 2 and verified that Auto Memory Recall has to be ON for it to work.

Or a different tag or something specific on each key ring to differentiate.
