Looks sharp I want to install blacked out lights but don't like the aftermarket lights they offer but I might try this to black out my factory lights.

I'm thinking about giving this a try. Anyone do this with a silver or white truck yet? I'm not sure if my truck would look better with light or dark headlights. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions?

I will be doing mine eventually when I get around to it. I think the black headlights look killer on white trucks. obviously there is not a white 14 with blacked out headlights so I cant give you a actual picture. however, look at white 2013+ ford f150 fx4 headlights. they come with no chrome on the inside and all black. it looks killer and I wish GM would do the same.... maybe ill try this on my next 3 days off... im feeling kinda brave.

White looks killer against white, going to do mine on a rainy weekend. Found this pic when I was talking to my guy at RBP about grilles.

I don't know if it's going to rain this weekend, but you should do it anyway. I'm anxious to see them.

I've got a bakflip coming that I have to install and a bunch of cans of black plasti dip to use this weekend..

I would but I need to wait till my retrofir source HID projectors come in, going to do mine all at once. No sense in opening them up twice.

 

I'd still like to hear from someone about the sealant too, I assume you are peeling off the old stuff and throwing something new on there. My first guess would be to use the same adhesive they use to glue in your windshield, comes in a caulking gun tube - you heat the stuff up in the oven and when it dries it's pretty solid.

A heat gun works as well but it may melt the plastic tabs if you leave it on there for too long. I found that out the hard way when I modified the headlights on my R6. The second light came out perfect though.

that looks too gaudy... not a fan of color matching the headlight housing... too much white imo

So when you put the housing in the oven, you leave everything plugged, installed, such as the bulb, sealing cap on the back stays. But what orientation do you put it in the oven? On it's side? On it's back? I know you wouldn't put the lens down.

haha, no.

 

Just black out the chrome housing... ALTHOUGH, I wish someone made a "clear" reflector replacement for the amber!

OP, how did you separate all the lenses from the chrome?

 

I have my lights open right now and it looks like they need to be cut off of the black tabs?

      I can only guess as well that something was clicked on that brought you to the half ton choices by accident. By all means try again and chose the 3500 and sort out that its the cab and box configuration you want and choose four wheel drive ( rather obvious to have a transfer case ) and to make sure the dually isn't chosen. I find or at least did a couple of years ago when I was sifting through the options that it would sometimes jump ahead after choosing the series of truck and in this case 3500 and skip some of the other initial configuration choices and have to watch the heading bar and sometimes back up by choosing the first in the series of option break downs. I think sometimes the computer will remember items that were last chosen and skip over the first part. Anyway go through it all and depending on the trim level chosen and I think the LT is one that may fall into that where the option of having the 4 high auto transfer case can be chosen, where as a High Country doesn't show that option as it just comes with the fancier ( not necessarily better though in terms of potential problems ) transfer case but for sure both transfer case choices are equipped with high and low range in the HD truck segment. Like Newdude said who works at a dealership, its the half tons that are the ones that will come with the single speed unless certain options or trim levels are chosen that add the two speed transfer case but as your looking at an HD, you don't have to worry about that hot mess.    One item that at least didn't show up and not sure if it does yet or not in the HD options on the manufactures pubic website is the upfitter in cab switch option if one is desiring that. Unfortunately its not wired in at the factory but the panel with the switches is on the dash but the wiring harness to be installed gets tossed under the rear seat to be installed by whomever after the fact to complete the installation.

      Yesterday we brought home a 6yr  old Havanese dog from a nearby SPCA.  We've had her for 24 hours and we are delighted with how well she is adjusting to her new home.  It  was a huge decision to adopt a dog at this stage in our lives but we believe we made the right choice!   it was reported that her first 6 years were ones of neglect.  I think she's already realizing her life is going to get a whole lot better...  so is ours!

      No doubt, I definitely agree with you. However, considering the 6.2 and 3.0 have been catastrophically failing with very little miles, I figured I would put trouble free. I’m at 18,4xx and still not a single issue.

      It’s never dry here but it gets hot. My 4 vehicles I keep at home drive an 18 mile loop. One 6 days a week. Two about 3 days each and one once a month. Only one goes on trips about 4 times a year 1000 to 2000 miles each time. One 26 years old gets driven once a month for 22 years. One 14 years old goes 6 days a week. The other two are recent at 2 and 4 years. All are performing normal no extra service other than that would be half of recommended or severe service in the maintenance manual. No extra water or steam out the exhaust or premature plug wear. I would consider an 18 mile loop would be enough. So apparently once a month at 18 miles for 22 years has kept the collector car running well. About 45 minutes a month.
