Opening Headlight without Cutting?

OP, how did you separate all the lenses from the chrome?

I have my lights open right now and it looks like they need to be cut off of the black tabs?

I think it is screwed onto the clear lens on the bottom. Google search of YouTube how to open a 2014 sierra headlight

The whole cluster is screwed to the clear front lens, I got that apart. What I am trying to take apart now is separate both led lenses, the black trim, and the orange reflector from the chrome piece. The black tabs are through the light then look like they are fused on the ends. So do you cut the tabs off then re-glue the pieces together after painting them?

Hey OP, what did you use to paint the housing? Plastidip or real paint?

Update: I very carefully ground the fused ends off of the tabs to separate the pieces. FedEx is bringing some new stuff for me today, I scuffed the chrome trim and painted it satin black. I'm excited to see the new look. Still undecided on whether or not to do the grill at the same time.

I have a '14 All Terrain crew, white.

Alrighty so once again, when you open up the headlights with the oven method, do you put the housing on its back or standing straight up? Also do you leave it on a big pan? I wouldn't think you would want to lay it on the rack

Any help would be much appreciated.

lightly coat it with olive oil, some salt and pepper, lay it on the rack to get some good searing. check for doneness, voila.

Yes, don't put it directly on the rack. I melted the back of one of my lights slightly doing this, the second light I put on a cookie sheet and checked it often...it came out perfect. I put it on its back with the lens facing up. They don't stand up that easy and they are too tall to fit in the oven easily that way anyhow.

I'm getting there! Finished painting them last night. Smoked the fog lights and the turn signals. I'll be sealing them back up tonight and back in the truck tomorrow morning. I think for now I'm going to leave the grill alone, I'll get your opinions.

Ok, a couple small teasers. I do have pictures of the process I'll post later as well as before/after. I had the headlights smoked before with tint film. It was better but not quite the look I wanted. This is how the truck sits right now (except now I have the fogs out too)
