Potential Colorado/ Canyon Buyers

They hyped the K2 twins like a year in advance, I wonder why there is not much advanced hype for their midsizers?

would anyone be interested in a column shifter/bench seat variant of the Colorado/Canyon twins? I know I wish they had the option!

I would, I don't care for console shifters in trucks / suv's. I prefer console shifers on cars though. I really prefer having my shifter on the colum in my sierra. I am still up in the air about the jump seat vs. a console though.

Gone.

Forever.

The previous Colorado/Canyon one had choices of seating.

One option was split bench front seat. That could legally seat three. Yes, all, it is tight. But still legal.

That was the whole point.

Trucks that are used for work - always had a column shift just so that 3 can sit across front.

Safety concerns abound. As there are only two front airbags. Plus a multitude of other side airbags.

So they ditched the column shift and the split bench - and all bench - seats.

Only two can legally sit up front.

And it cuts down on cost of different seats. Everyone gets bucket seats.

I think the full size can still seat (legally) three across.

But as with vinyl seats, a choice of colors of seating and choice of carpet colors, rubber carpets, column shifter, chrome bumper, the column shifter is gone forever in these trucks.

Yes, the WT may be available with rubber carpet and vinyl seats but on an extremely limited basis.

I don't think the WT will be too limited. I see a lot of Rangers and Colorado's in fleets that will need replacing soon. Might even be a flood of them for at first, dealers haven't had a midsize for fleets for a while.

Why wouldn't it be? I'd expect it to be on par with the fullsizes and the base version of the Tacoma.

I'm looking to buy a cyber grey metalic Z71 crewcab 3.6 4x4 loaded, but only if it gets 25mpg highway or better and 19 to 20 city or better,i know the 4 cylinder would get better gas mileage, but i would never in a million years buy a 4 cylinder 4x4

Why wouldn't you buy a four cylinder 4x4 if fuel mileage is so important? You must tow and haul a good amount huh?

Just curious, if it hits 18/24 are you going to go buy a more expensive and less fuel efficient full size or are you going to get one of the competitors that are worse on gas? Just curious what your angle here is on your hard cutoff you listed :dunno:

Wait, aren't you the guy who already knows the MPG's of this truck because GM told you over the phone before anyone else knows?

i just traded away a 2011 Nissan Frontier crewcab PRO-4X with only 20,000 miles in noverber 2013 because of poor gas milage and i liked the power of the 4.0 v6 261 horse power, which led me to buy the vehicle I have now 2013 Buick Regal turbo premium 2 ,220 horse 2.0 4 cly has the power and exceleration of a v8 and 4 cyl gas mileage 22 city and 32 highway is what i have been getting ,but i need a truck I am a sportsman and hunter and hunt some pretty rough terrain and need a powerful 4x4 to access, and my brother has a 30 foot cuddy cabin searay i use and need a v6 to pull it so a 4 cyl is not an option, and i like the look of the new colorado its a sharp looking truck but in order for me to buy it it has to get good gas mileage in 3.6 4x4 config

Hate to break it to you but your not pulling a 30 foot sea ray with a cabin. You need more than a v6 (unless it is a ecoboost). Our last boat was a 21 foot crownline cuddy cabin and that was 3900 dry, plus another 1000 lb trailer and gas + other miscellaneous items put it close to 6k lbs (30 feet is considered a cabin cruiser). You will be well over the weight limit trying to tow that with a 7k tow capacity colorado. What model does he have? My next boat will be a 23 foot open bow, should keep me under the tow capacity loaded with a few friends and gear. 30 ft, no way. About the closest to a cuddy cabin would be something like a formula 292 and that is 7k dry without the trailer.

Not trying to hark on ya but just trying to keep you and everyone safe as that is way too much.

With that there was pictures of a guy who twice a year (start and end of summer) would trailer his 38 foot cabin cruiser 3 miles to the lake with his 90's style 1500 silverado from storage. Used 4 low the whole time and never went above 15-20mph. Got gas and backed it into the lake. Pics are awesome, I will see if I can find the link. Even though he had a backup attached with a tow rope he said the truck pulled it out on its own. So it can be done but no doubt shouldn't, he upgraded to a duramax later. Trucks are over engineered but laws come in to play and just plain common sense. Not to mention the fine or worse if you get caught towing way past your limits set by the manufacturer or get into an accident.

the boat with trailor is 30 feet long and weighs about 4800 pounds give or take with a full fuel tank, my PRO-4X had a towing capacity of 6200 llbs and pulled it easily in 4 hi didn't even need low

A 30 foot trailer is a lot different than a 30 foot boat. Our trailer was probably 25-27 feet or so in length with the boat on it (tongue to prop). That would make more sense and can be handled by a mid size with a V6 or diesel.
