Mylink system/OnStar completely dead (buttons don't even light up)

Hey y'all -

I plan on calling the stealership tomorrow to make an appointment, but my Mylink and Onstar are completely dead. The radio doesn't even turn on. The backlight on the buttons doesn't even come on. The Onstar light is also steady red.

I also have a check engine light when the key is in accessory, not sure if that's normal operating conditions or not.

The truck has 907 miles, and it's pretty depressing, but this is my second "first year" model truck, so i'm used to it.

BTW, I have the "small" mylink system, not the 8".

Hoping my dealership hooks me up with some accessories or something, but I guess I can only hope :jester:

The check engine light being on with the key in the on position but engine off is normal. Good luck with the radio issue.

just throwing this out there but have you checked your fuses, have you made any modifications?

No mods. I was planning on adding some lights but now I'm pretty freaked out about it.

Also, I checked the fuses I thought were for the radio. Nothing I could see. Everything is abbreviated on the fuse box guide.

Also, I'm at the dealership now. We will see what comes of it. Truck has been back for about an hour.

There is a Techlink article about blank screen when backing up, and a "calibration" to fix this and other issues. But it doesn't say anything about OnStar and the backlights of the buttons. Let us know what the dealer does to solve it.

So this is pretty crazy, but I just talked to the Service Manager. Here's the breakdown:

- They tried all steps known at the dealership

- They couldn't find anything in Techlink

- They called GM, who had to call internal contacts with the supplier. This was 5-10 calls as each step to fix took from 15-45 minutes.

- They somehow got the radio to work, but now GM wants that radio out of my truck for research

- Replacement radio is coming tomorrow

- Untl them I'm pushing an CC regular bed LT w/ leather. Not complaining.

Wow. At least you got 'em all working it. Glad to hear they are taking care of you (what I would expect since this one is REAL broke).

Yeah they've done right by me so far.

Loaner isn't bad either!

My last conversation with the GM engineers last week was they had the infotainment company coming into the USA to help diagnosis the issues with the system and the bad radio reception, probably why they want your unit back.

Not bad. Just FYI thats a Double cab. You'd be surprised if you got a crew cab as a loaner. that back seat is huge!

Thank up for clarifying! I always confuse double vs. crew.

I sat in a CC! They are insanely roomy!

My main radio screen just went out today, only a 'snowy' background. All the radio buttons are inop, I can only adjust volume and such with steering wheel buttons. I have 475 babied miles on the truck.

So far I just tried to shut it down and restart the truck, no change. I am out of town until next week. I will call the dealership if it doesn't fix itself, very doubtful.

The backup screen still works normal when I go into reverse.

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes.

O.K., when I get home I will see if it helps. I don't mind disconnecting the battery for a bit. I wonder if it will mess anything else up? Like initial phone setup or security system? I don't care about radio presets.

It would be much easier than a trip to the dealer.

It didn't change any of my settings when they tried it, except for preset stations. Report back your results!
