Toolbox or no toolbox?

If you don't need one then don't waste money on it. I have a black UWS standard profile box and it's great, but I also need one. It's packed enough and has enough weight that I honestly think it lowered the rear end some lol. So much where a low profile wouldn't be tall enough.

 

Picture was taken before all the other stuff I did to it. This was when all I did was add the toolbox and step bars.

I got one used for $120. Low profile, it's useful.

 

If I needed on, I would get the low profile. I think it looks good and would paint it to match the vehicle. Good price.

I don't have much use for an open bed, but I know a lot of you do. It seems to me that those fold up hard covers like the Back-Flip and others would be a nice way to go.

Agreed...and mine has a BakBox installed as well. It's a tool box hidden under the BakFlip cover. Smaller than a big tool box, but just what I need for misc stuff I don't want in the cab.

I'd like to give a thumbs up for my UnderCover SwingCase. It's a nice place to organize tow straps and such that I would need access to while I'm in the bed anyway. It works well with my Bakflip G2 Cover and since the truck is lifted it is nice to be able to swing it out and access instead of having to climb up in the bed.

Not much need for s toolbox for me. But I have considered getting a BAK BAKbox2. It's small and it hides under my tonneau and if I don't need it at all and need extra space in the bed then it flattens against the front bulkhead so it's like it's not even there.

I think it makes them look like a work truck... But I don't care - they are useful and I have a TSC on mine...

I don't think a rail to rail type toolbox makes a truck look like a "work" truck. Just shows you most likely use the truck as a truck in 1 way or the other. The only type of toolbox that would make it look like a work truck would be the kind that mount on the side.

Agreed. They certainly don't add anything in the looks department so unless you need it, skip it.

Even then, a lopro or fender box will be less visible. Plus the fender boxes are a lot easier to access. Our work flatbeds don't even have boxes as big as most of the rail to rail boxes, lol.

I considered the fender ones with a tonneau cover for a sportier look...
