Just got the rockstar3 xd827's put on with Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. first are pics of what they look like out of the box. Then I took the inserts off (naked wheels) then I put the green bead ring on. Same weight as factory set up and the ride is so much smoother than the crap continental highway tires that came on the truck. Quieter over bumps and over all! [emoji16]

Update after 1 week of driving....this set up (17x9 -6 offset/4.75 backspace & 285/70-17 KO2s) definitely rubs at full lock in reverse. Nothing crazy but it does rub.

 

The other thing I have noticed is the ride quality is worse than the 275/55-20 KO2s on stock wheels. It's not harsh but I definitely feel more little bumps and undulations through the steering wheel and the seat of my pants. If I had to guess why, I'd say the much more aggressive offset of this set up or the lighter, cheaper wheels, specifically, are to blame. Can anyone offer any informed insight on this?

That's funny I had 275/60/20 ko2 on my 14 with stock rims, i feel that on the 17 I've now same tires as you, my truck drives a lot better then my last set up. Only 200 miles so far tho no rubbing anywhere that I can tell/hear or feel... gas mileage is a totally different story. Your truck looks awesome btw hopefully we can get 60k + miles out of these ko2 like my old 1s

Do you have LT/E Load tires? That would be the blame, especially if the PSI it too high.

 

I went from 275/60/20 to 285/70/17 and thought the ride was softer with the 17s once I had the PSI dialed in.

SOTA R.E.P.R. 6 Stealth wheels, 20x9 - 5.5" BS, with MT 35" ATZ tires. Wish I could get a 37" tire to fit in there,

Based on what guys in these forums are saying, load range E tires are probably best run at close to 50psi, as well, but some have gone as low as 40psi and reported no issues. I just tend to trust what the manufacturer's R&D has shown to work best.

I run about 46 up front and 45 in the rear, cold psi. I found this to be a nice sweet spot.

I am pretty sure if you follow this, then you can reset your TPMS and they will learn the new set up:

 

The TPMS sensor matching process is outlined below:

 

1. Set the parking brake.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN with the

engine off.

3. Press the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)

transmitter's LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the

same time for approximately five seconds. The

horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in

relearn mode and TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE

message displays on the DIC screen.

If your vehicle does not have RKE, press the

Driver Information Center (DIC) vehicle information

button until the PRESS V TO RELEARN TIRE

POSITIONS message displays. The horn sounds

twice to signal the receiver is in relearn mode and

TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message displays on

the DIC screen.

If your vehicle does not have RKE or DIC buttons,

press the trip odometer reset stem located on the

instrument panel cluster until the PRESS V TO

RELEARN TIRE POSITIONS message displays.

The horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in

relearn mode and TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE

message displays on the DIC screen.

4. Start with the driver side front tire.

5. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap stem.

Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or

decreasing the tire's air pressure for five seconds,

or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp, which

may take up to 30 seconds to sound, confirms that

the sensor identification code has been matched to

this tire and wheel position.

6. Proceed to the passenger side front tire, and

repeat the procedure in Step 5.

7. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire, and repeat

the procedure in Step 5.

8. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the

procedure in Step 5. The horn sounds two times to

indicate the sensor identification code has been

matched to the driver side rear tire, and that the

TPMS sensor matching process is no longer

active. The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message on

the DIC display screen goes off.

9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.

10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure

level as indicated on the Tire and Loading

Information label.

11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.

    • I have a Retrax pro that I first had on my 2020 chevy and transferred it to my current GMC.  It stays in the garage most of the time, so hard for me to judge it's long term weather resistance.  It still works perfectly, been very durable.  It doesn't see oil patch usage, but it's not a mall queen.  It keeps most things mostly dry (small leaks) and the security of it is enough to slow someone down but not keep them out for long.  I would buy one again, it works for me.     
    • Thanks to the convenience of Amazon, I was able to get a few things done to the truck today.  I installed Carquest Premium oil and air filters with five quarts of Mobil1 High Mileage 10-30 along with a quart of Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 I already had.  The latch for the flip up center console lid was broken so I replaced it along with the power mirror switch.  I found my push retainer assortment this morning and reattached the plastic under the bumper and it was only held on with a few screws and retainers.  Then I programmed a new remote keyless entry fob so I can lock my dog in the truck when I take her out with me (I've got to keep the air going for her since it's been in the 100s).  Finally, I ordered some LED interior bulbs and replaced the reading lamps.  The front lights are working fine while one of the back lights only works intermittently and the other not at all.   While under the truck, I found the source of at least one of the noises: the sway bar links need replacing.  I ordered a set of Suspension Dudes links with Code Red bushings.  Never heard of them, but they're made in the USA and have decent reviews.  While making yet another Amazon order, I went ahead and added a set of front tow hooks.  I went with red, since that's the color of the sway bar link and bushings and it should look decent enough on a black and chrome truck.  Speaking of which, it doesn't bug me much, but the passenger side mirror has a chrome cap while the driver side doesn't, so eventually I'll make them match one way or another.  Oh, and I ordered a $20 TPMS reset tool.  No idea if it will do anything for my sensors but it was cheap and will work for the Ford Transit Connect as well.     For tradition's sake, I ordered a new oil change wrench.  I kept the Snap-On 9/16"x15mm GM wrench I bought when I was 18 in the 2006 GMC from the time I bought that truck until the truck was lost.  While I was tempted, there's no need to spend $80 for a new SO wrench, or even $50 with shipping for a used one on Ebay.  I just bought a Duratech 15mm extra-long ratcheting wrench to do the job as needed.  It works, and if I like that wrench enough, I'll buy the set.  
    • The recall is for exactly this issue - those drain holes combined with the limited environmental capability of the tailgate electronics card inside the tailgate were a problem. The “safety issue” was the potential for the tailgate to spontaneously open, but all kinds of tailgate misbehavior can occur from water contamination of that control card.    There is no real fix yet. The initial recall just disabled the tailgate. Later, when parts became available, they would replace bad parts with new parts of the same bad design. My dealer is going nuts because the few times I let them get their hands on my truck, my tailgate is off due to a slide-in camper installation. They really want to cut my tailgate wires, but I won’t give them the chance. I will let them get their dirty hands on it when a real fix (redesign) is available.  My tailgate, which works just fine with sealant plugging the drain holes, will remain safe in a dry storage crate until then.  
    • Yes your absolutely right, I been looking at the 4 inch BDS one and it acutely states you can use the stock 20’s just not the 17’s or 18’s, I also didn’t realize that with my 275/60r20 stock wheels I’m already running 33 inch diameter wheel setup lol so I can just run my stock wheels and tires atleast to start.
    • I would expect that to be lift-kit dependent.  If the kit has interference issues w stock wheels, then the kit/manufacturer should indicate that somewhere.
