I am pretty sure if you follow this, then you can reset your TPMS and they will learn the new set up:

 

The TPMS sensor matching process is outlined below:

 

1. Set the parking brake.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN with the

engine off.

3. Press the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)

transmitter's LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the

same time for approximately five seconds. The

horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in

relearn mode and TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE

message displays on the DIC screen.

If your vehicle does not have RKE, press the

Driver Information Center (DIC) vehicle information

button until the PRESS V TO RELEARN TIRE

POSITIONS message displays. The horn sounds

twice to signal the receiver is in relearn mode and

TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message displays on

the DIC screen.

If your vehicle does not have RKE or DIC buttons,

press the trip odometer reset stem located on the

instrument panel cluster until the PRESS V TO

RELEARN TIRE POSITIONS message displays.

The horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in

relearn mode and TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE

message displays on the DIC screen.

4. Start with the driver side front tire.

5. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap stem.

Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or

decreasing the tire's air pressure for five seconds,

or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp, which

may take up to 30 seconds to sound, confirms that

the sensor identification code has been matched to

this tire and wheel position.

6. Proceed to the passenger side front tire, and

repeat the procedure in Step 5.

7. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire, and repeat

the procedure in Step 5.

8. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the

procedure in Step 5. The horn sounds two times to

indicate the sensor identification code has been

matched to the driver side rear tire, and that the

TPMS sensor matching process is no longer

active. The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message on

the DIC display screen goes off.

9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.

10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure

level as indicated on the Tire and Loading

Information label.

11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.

What I found on this forum is that the procedure outlined above works only on trucks 2012 and older. 2013s and up require a re-learn device.

Ahh ok, damn. I have not had to do mine yet, just had the dealer install and mount my tires....was not aware you need a tool to DIY. That is ridiculous.

Had the lug nuts within two days and the wheels the following week, I've been really impressed with them and their customer service so far. They'll contact you via text and email as soon as you order.

I just order threw them A + one of my rims where f up... they emailed me pictures of it. Got the new wheels installed today, love the look! OK,

 

So I am about to pull the trigger on a new setup but hesitating with the tire size.

 

I am completely aware that either way, there is probably going to be some trimming needed but I am looking for some experience here.

 

I am only on a 2" level. (willing to do 1.5" body if needed)

 

The rims I am purchasing are a 20X10 w/ -19 Offset.

 

Tire choices are as follows:

 

 

295/55r20 (ridge Grappler, 32.76 X 12.17)

33X12.5

305/55/20 (33.5 X 12.4)

 

Which one will cause the least issues? Common sense tells me the 295's but who knows.

 

I have searched this thread as well as others online over and over again and it seems some people run these without rub or just a minor trim job, others say no damn way.

 

Please PLEASE provide some sound advice. Thank you.

I would say you will have to do a body lift. I run a 20x12 -44 offset with 2 inch level and 33x12.5 tire and even with major cutting I still rub. I will eventually do a 3" lift on the truck that should solve my problem.

That extra -25 offset and 2 inches on the wheel could be the issue though.

 

Never thought this would be so difficult lol. Customoffsets.com website there are so many running a 20X10 on a level...most say either no trimming or minor trimming.....I wonder if they are real or not lol.

 

I am willing to do some minor plastic trimming.....but no metal .

I'm running 295/55R20 Ridge Grapplers on a 2.25" level with MINOR rubbing at full lock on the carpeted fender wells. I could just zip tie it back and it will fix it but I'm just lazy. I just don't turn it to full lock. I'm sure the 1/4" extra lift I have over a 2" isn't that big of a difference. I'd just go with 295/55R20 if I were you. Body lifts are also a pain to install for what you really get out of them. You also have that gap at your hitch and sometimes your tow hooks have to be removed and relocated. Just not worth it in my opinion.

That's where I got all of my information from and it said the same thing, minor trimming that's why I went with the set up. I'm hitting front and rear even after metal trim.

What size wheels and offset are you running?

Gmc sierra replicas. 20x9 and I can't remember if it's a +31 or +27 offset. It's whatever the stock offset is.

Nice, from what I understand then, w/ the -offset, I should have a better chance of not rubbing. Yours is close or right at stock offset so the fact you only have tiny rub is good info.....Maybe I am wrong lol

Took my truck into the woods this weekend. Found out that the method grids love to collect mud and rocks in the fake beadlock groove. Enough to significantly screw up the balance until you hose them clean.

    • I am guessing that engines of that design back then had a better ability to be abused and survive longer than a new design engine with the long timing chain and the overhead cams and phasers etc. But I would never guess that an engine could go that far and not fail spectacularly or at least die a slow death. 
    • In the 80's 90's I'd run Honda's 7,500 miles between changes using Red Line HP 5W20 and do it for hundreds of thousands of miles with issues. Back in the day it was an SAE 20 with the HTHS of a SAE 30 and SN add load. It was also very polar. Oxidation VOA was over 120. Besides those motors were SPFI and lean burn tech. I could have likely run it longer but never did.    We had a Toyota bought new I ran on Pennzoil's latest and greatest synthetic of the day with "Penthane". A made up word for a very low dose of PAO. Tried 7,500 mile OCI's in that Group III/VI chemistry and the rings tapped out at 90K. Rocker box wasn't as bad as the one Punch put up but it wasn't good either. Also a SPFI motor.    I'm around 3,750 across the board on these GDI monsters and the oil it tapped out by then usually on TBN/TAN crossover and color. Red Line HP Euro.    The AMSOIL SS brochures tell you to follow the OEM values for the service class but that it can be run up to 25K if monitored. I can't imagine what motor could go that distance and not tap out. I've never owned one.    Yes, I know. Lot's of people do. I'm just not going to be one of them. 
    • I knew a guy in the early 80's that bought a new Monte Carlo and ran it a 100,000 miles without ever changing the filter or the oil. Just kept adding. It looked like that inside.     
    • Good evening. I was lucky enough to get passed down to me a 2007 GMC LBZ that was my great uncle's. While the underside and rockers are more or less gone I feel like with time I can restore it to working order since it only has 110,000 miles and he put nearly every option he could get without getting the new body style since he did not trust DEF. So far I have done everything I can think of but when I put the key into the ignition nothing happens. I put 2 brand new batteries in it. Cleaned the terminals. Check all the fuses and relays and they all pass with my multimeter. I know I'm missing something that I just cant think of. The only odd thing is the OBD2 port works which makes me think its not the mega fuse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 
    • Looks nice. I still have my 2000, 1500. Bought a 2025, 1500 for retirement. Feels solid. These trucks have a bad rap on the internet. My brother has a `24 1500, 5.3 with 52,000 miles. No problems at all. Mine hasn`t either but mine`s only at 12,700 miles. Have seen some of these things with 100,000 miles with no problems.
