No Tyme Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It seems that the old (cigerate lighter) style plug is a constant on. Is there any plug in that powers on and off with the key? I want to run a dash cam and hope not to have to unplug and plug in every time I get into the truck. I'll have to try the 120 volt power supply and see if that comes on and off with the key...
TJay74 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I think one of the dash plugs is switched and the other is constant.
Silverado-Hareek Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Read the manual. There's a fuse you can move to make the outlet turn on and off with the truck. I don't have my manual with me to tell you but I remember reading it.
TheDave29 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 The cig lighter in the covered console is only on with the Truck and RAP (Retained Accessory Power). Regards, David
Silverado-Hareek Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Section 9-30 of the manual is what I wrote in my phone.
chuckl1218 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Yup, thats it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

TX14Z71 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Can someone post that section of the manual? I'm currently out of town and do not have access to it. Thanks in advance.
block8head Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 The one inside the console and the one behind the console is on off with the key..

Thanks in advance. Here you go...The source of power for the APOs on the center stack can be changed from direct battery power to RAP by moving the fuse at location 10, in the left instrument panel fuse block, to position 11. Once the fuse is moved, the APOs will continues to work for up to 10 minutes or until the driver door is opened. See
j-ten-ner Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I think it is better to have the dash cam running all the time. That way you have footage in case someone hits your truck while parked at the mall parking lot. How about that: http://www.blackvue.com/en/contents/sub1.asp?idx=13. I guess you can get a similar device for the cam you choose. so long j-ten-ner

Just an FYI, on my truck, the fuse was already in location 11 and that makes the cigarette lighter outlet on the center stack run at all times. I moved it to position 10 to get the outlet to turn off when the truck is off. But it worked and I'm happy to not have to unplug my cell phone charger anymore.

I've been thinking of getting one but haven't been able to decide if it's worth it to get a Garmin or Blackview or just get the $100 brands
No Tyme Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 how do you like your dash cam? I've been thinking of getting one but haven't been able to decide if it's worth it to get a Garmin or Blackview or just get the $100 brands Actually the one I picked up from Amazon.com (Blueskysea Blue Color Version Novatek NT96650 Full HD1080P G1W Car DVR Camera Cam G-sensor) for $45 is better that the one I run in my semi truck at over $300. I have the one above plugged into the ac outlet in the dash and it starts and stop with the ignition of the truck. I run mostly rural areas and had picked up deer off of the side of the road at night with the camera. I posted a 200 plus meg file on my Facebook page of an idiot lying in the road about 1 am that I almost ran over.. Cops got a kick out of it... I was very impressed with it... The one I picked up from SecuritySystems.com cost me $305 but does carry a lifetime replacement warranty. Been going strong for 2 years now... The Blueskysea is about 6 months old and doing fine.
