2015 differences

Any chance the 2015 trucks will get the keyless entry and keyless start that the 2015 Yukon has right now? Once you have that on other cars, so hard to go back. (I know, first world problems)

??

Is something different about the keyless entry and remote start on the Yukon? They've had keyless entry and remote start on the Silverado's since 2007.

Not remote start, keyless start. (So, you get in the car and push the button to start the car rather than inserting the key.)

Oh I understand now. Yeah that would be a cool feature to have and an easy one to include with these trucks. I personally hate the remotes they give you with these trucks now. They are much poorer in quality than the previous style and they are un-necessarily bigger for some reason too. Seems they can really improve on a few things here.

Am I the only one that's anxiously waiting to see if the vibration issue is mysteriously absent in the 2015 1500's?

Nope, I'm anxiously waiting to see if the variety of issues the 14s have been fixed.

What vibration issue are y'all talking about?

There's a huge thread here... http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/153186-shake-or-vibration-issues/

The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a solution yet and the percentage of the trucks that have this problem is unknown, even though that thread is over 2000 posts long! I'm guessing 10-15% based on the satisfaction survey in another thread where 84% of '14 owners stated that they were 100% satisfied with their new truck, with no vibration issues at all. I am one of them. Smooth as glass at all speeds.

heres a couple thoughts..

first off i was also pissed to hear no HD radio, like others have said i like the quality but many of the stations go in and out of HD when signal isn't that good.

i hate XM but i have it in all 3 cars, i guess its because i do listen to it as an alternative when i get tired of local radio stations. but i find myself listening to Kiss FM out of LA with ryan secrets on the way to work, i get to hear their traffic and always ask myself why do i pay for the service to listen to another FM station simulcast?

i don't honestly know.. but maybe the same reason i always tang to have a car with dual climate controls but absolutely hate it when they are set to 2 different temperatures!

i hate having a feature that doesn't work i guess.. having xm and no subscription bugs me the way the climate controls do. the same way ill probably end up paying for On Star despite not hardly ever using it!

but heres some food for thought. i believe many of the manufacturers are now beginning to figure out everything works better with a wifi connection and internet in the vehicle. all my cars that have pandora need to get data through my phone. which is fine but in reality if you put pandora in the radio as a standard feature it should just work without having to provide it a connection!

furthermore XM does sell an internet streaming account for a lot less money than the satellite provided connection. the crappy quality of XM has everything to do with the limited bandwidth of providing over 100 channels of music and a whole bunch of other content over the sat connection.

the news that GM is the first to offer 4G built into the car tells me they may also be providing an internet connection to the radio itself so things like i-heart, pandora, xm can replace and provide much better digital quality once you eliminate the antenna connection for sat and FM.

not only that the manufacturer can send software updates directly to the vehicle eliminating trips to the dealership for an update. it would also allow the vehicle to report its maintenance status to the dealer and suggest a service appointment and possibly a calendar in the vehicle itself to sync with your email calendar.

the list of possibilities goes on and on!

i guess if i have to give up HD its a minor inconvenience and given the fact that cellular technology is growing at the rate it is, this seems like a natural progression for the technology.

in the meantime i am keeping my eye on www.autonetmobile.com they have been around a good while providing wifi hotspots in cars for nearly a decade. (gm used these in several cars as an option) they are just now upgrading to 4G LTE and i may go that route until i upgrade trucks.

the advantage of autonet is they are their own ISP and they use existing towers all over the US from more than just ATT verizion and Sprint. in fact they use whoever has the best signal and their TRU technology provides a constant internet connection while changing from tower to tower. at 4g speeds nobody has the coverage or the connection they have and the fact its powered by the car and has a separate antenna the reception is a lot better then a phone.

its a little pricy but if you have a need for a solid connection i think they are way ahead of everyone else in the mobile internet department.

their system can also track your car and provide remote control and give feedback of your cars systems just like the OnSTAR app does remote start and the whole 9 yards.

4G just tells me GM is looking for additional ancillary revenue after the vehicle purchase. There is no way I'd pay a monthly fee to receive updates wirelessly anytime in the near future. My cell phone and U-verse internet is already too much.

i disagree, i think they are trying to make a better product and i would not bash them for that.. frankly they really needed to up their game and the quality of their product as was evident when uncle sam bailed them out.

also as for fees, i am with you on the monthly but to a large degree i really could care less about 20 50 heck even 100 a month for something that keeps me connected i pay more than that on my direct tv monthly.

i could loose 100 in the couch per month and not miss it!

considering the cost of the truck its peanuts.

I have found by playing around that the best sound quality comes from Pandora thru my phone, hard wired or not and my first Gen Ipod. I have XM don't use it, I haven't listen to FM in years. There is no reason to listen to chatter any more.

I wish I could lose $100 month and not think about it! That's 30% of my note! I'm all for a better product but adding a recurring monthly fee is bogus unless it's merely an option.
