Just my Story:

2015 1500 Extended Cab, LTZ - DL3 Mirrors and A45 code for memory seats. CHECK

Last year - As I understood it - I needed. (Prices were from IAMGMPARTS)

Powerfold - Chrome etc.

Mirror 23241465 ($427.43)

Mirror 231711567 ($427.43)

Harness 23171564 ($73.03)

Harness 23241467 ($73.03)

= = = = = $1000.92 sub tot.

Now that I finally decided to buy the Trailering Mirrors.. it seems that all the above numbers are No Longer Available - or Out of Stock.

Now the “NEW KIT” is available.

Chrome but no longer Power Fold…(bummer)

Prices are from ShopChevyParts.com

Right & Left Mirror Kit - 23372181 ($543.75)

Driver Side Harness: 23342727 ($91.74)

Passenger Side Harness: 23342716 ($76.67)

= = = = $712.16 sub tot

You can add $100.00 to $150.00 for State Tax, and or Shipping costs.

The "kit" they have started offering is just as you said. Manual folding chrome capped tow mirrors.

I just completed the DL3 to DQS mod on my brand new 2017 GMC Sierra Denali.

Like you I have the DL3 and A45 RPO codes.

The parts I used were:

Drivers door:

Harness - 23342727

Tow Mirror - 84041609

Passenger door:

Harness - 23342716

Tow Mirror - 84041611

According my my fleet manager & parts manager these are the "latest" parts numbers.

Took my time and installed myself since I love tinkering. They work flawlessly ! And I'm very very happy with the results.

I then used a diode so that when I shift into reverse the mirror flood lights come on automatically.

Retail pricing was pretty brutal as I am in Canada and we pay a horrible premium but I was told $975 per mirror & $225 per harness. (Those are CAD retail prices).

Yeah that's about right, $1100 USD = $1500 CAD + duties & taxes. Luckily I know them well and paid their "dealer cost" as they called it lol (they still made a few bucks I'm sure).

I did use a chart that @Pgamboa shared with me. He seems to be the "Mirror mod god" when it comes to these !! The chart only went as far as 2016 (I went out on a limb and decided to give it a whirl anyway).

According to the chart if you have the DL3 & A45 RPO codes like I did the part is the same for 2015-2016.

I gave them the old part #s and according to my parts manager they have been superseded to the #s I shared above.

You will probably need to drill the 4th bolt hole in your door (super easy, the metal is stamped where it would be but not through as it isn't used on our trucks without the tow mirrors)

I purchased the chrome kit on eBay, including the harness. Did the install myself, 2 hrs, pretty straight forward. I had dl8 before. My shop color matched the caps. All the lights work.

Where did you get that hood at? That's nice.

Question for anyone that got the oem looking tow mirrors such as the ones linked below, I've got a 14 sierra Denali and I'm wondering if these mirrors are plug n play or if I'll need the harness. Anyone purchased these and know? Thanks

I saw that but it was my understanding by reading through this forum from time to time that it seems some people need the harness and some don't depending on models and what comes standard with their specific truck so I was checking if anyone with the same model as mine knew for sure. Mine is a 1500 with standard non towing power fold mirrors. I guess if I knew what the purpose of the harness was for I'd have a better understanding of whether I'd need it or not.

If you have power folding now DL3 RPO and want all the features functioning on power tow mirrors DQS RPO afterwards you will definitely need harnesses

The harnesses are "pinned" for the specific features according to the mirror on the truck.

Your current harness will have a puddle light pin (which will be unused on the tow mirrors) and will be missing the pin for the marker light & cargo light for example

No problem I'm sorry I misunderstood earlier.

Another option vs buying OEM is pgamboa could either make you custom ones or even help you modify yours to avoid spending the extra dough on the harnesses.

Seems kinda strange that GM couldn't produce a universal harness but I guess that's just not how they work lol

The way GM made it to where you have to take off the front middle fender and bolts in the wheel well just to get access to remove the headlights is further proof that the engineers and technicians should work together to simplify this stuff. Anyway, I'm taking this thread off topic. Again I appreciate the info and if I get time once it's all done I'll post pics of my setup.

I'm curious what the non diy'ers paid to have the dealer install their mirrors, just the labor cost. Time is an issue so if I did this myself I'm not sure when I'd get around to it so I wanna make sure if I pay to install that they don't try to overbid on their cost.

[emoji23] - I don't get why GM decided to share 2 slots on the mirror connector depending if you have DL3 or Towing. There are 2 unused slots in the connector. They could have easily populated all 18 slots with circuits and make 2 part #s. One for Seat Memory A45 and the other without.

The very small variances like: Child Lockout indicator, Rear Window lock, temp sensors... just pin them all. It'll not work with the Accessory or will work with it.

So I've been following this thread for over a year. The wealth of knowledge here is tremendous. My truck is a very early '15 GMC SLT 2500HD. DOM 3/14. I have DL3, AY0, and A45 RPO codes. I don't use the memory seat function since I'm the only driver. The seat is set and doesn't move when I enter or exit the vehicle. What is the need for the camper harness and are the charts above still accurate when it comes to the early trucks such as mine? Thanks!
