He just got it back from Jannetty Racing in CT - had the supercharger pulley changed to a smaller one, since he wasn't making peak boost. They also found that the belt was slipping, so there was even less boost than they had thought. Boy, let me tell ya ... there's a BIG difference NOW!! 

 

Took me for a ride last weekend. We hit 125 MPH on the Mass Pike in SECONDS after leaving the on-ramp. Traffic is such a buzzkill. :D

 

 

The Euro guys started laughing their asses off when they saw the numbers. Also mentioned that the tuning was SPOT-ON perfect! No surprise there. Jannetty knows their stuff!

That is some serious HP right there.  I'm trying to organize my finances and just don't drive the camaro enough to justify keeping it.  Would really like to see it go to a good home.  For now it will just sit in the garage.

They are offering 20% discount on the SS now.  It would give us way more room to enjoy.  I would just need to do a few MODS to get the HP up.  :)  Still not sure on that or wait for the 2019 Silverado.

The car is a sleeper - at least looks wise.

 

As soon as I  hear that thing fire up, I know it's FAR from stock. Some rnon-motorheads might not know the difference, but we all sure do. :D

Ahh, old pic. I don't have any recent ones except for the day we were installing these support bars on the rear diff, plus 4 new fully adjustable shocks all the way around - he's got totally different wheels and rubber on there now - didn't notice until the pic was posted:

I thought the GM 20% off old stock/2017s excludes Camaro's this year. I just checked the other day, since that yellow 2016 SS convertible I was too close to buying is down to 30k(which is what my offer price was going to be, until I read they raised car sales tax in OK) and figured if I can get a 2017 for 20%off I'd look, but read the fine print. Is it just one dealer, or did I miss something? My local dealer that had a new 2015 Z/28 for $50k when the 2016s came out isn't even going near 20%.

I realize that 96 was the last year of the true RWD full size sedans (and wagons) like the Fleetwood, Roadmaster, Caprice, and Custom Cruiser (And Impala)  but seriously.. a "Collectors Edition"  ???  Did they really make a silly little badge like Nissan would do that says "Special Edition"  (Collectors Edition in this case) and slap it on the side and/or rear of the car, throw in leather seating or something inside and call it a collectors item/edition? 

 

Don't get me wrong, I loved those big vehicles, drove tons of 91-96 Caprice 9C1 police package vehicles (and owned one) and loved every one of those big things, but the public in general did not.

Oh right. There is a Red Hot SS near me for 40k with a few dozen miles. I was thinking about it too, the GXPs have held their value well. And it would fit the kids much better than the 911 sized interior of the 6th Gen

Yes, I was looking at the Chevy SS.  4 doors but still comes in a manual.

I bought a 94 impala ss after owning 13 impalas and caprices, some I modded. They were very popular. The word I got back then was they converted there’re assembly line to trucks that were becoming more popular. It took me till the Genesis to kinda get that feeling at a reasonable price.

Any large car was always much better built than the little FWD ones in the past. That's why I always drove them, and still do! Even the mid sized Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Regal, and Cutlass were super reliable. Mine had been overheated, and hit from every angle twice, with a 200-4R transmission that skipped right over 2nd gear, and I still drove it daily, and beat the CRAP out of it, for 2 years straight! Thing burned oil like crazy from the overheat.  Drove it to NYC twice, and up in the mountains of NH several times. Towed ATVs on a trailer with it for years too, even with the bad tranny. Now THAT's how a car is SUPPOSED to be built!

 

Our Grand Marquis, this January, will be in our ownership for 15 years with no signs of slowing down yet! Just have to take it off the road before they start spraying liquid car dissolver on the roadways every winter.

That is correct.  The Arlington plant in Texas was the only one left at that time that built the B-Body sedans.  GM felt that it would be more profitable (and it was) to convert that plant over to build SUVs.

Dark time for me auto wise. I was a big fan of the platform. The GM rear drive full-size. I kept the 94 for 8 years kinda like a shrine and drove it very little.
