Techlink has an article about installing/replacing (I forget which) a piece of weatherstrip in the vertical space at the rear of the rear side windows -- don't know if it's related, but might be something to track down.

Well we drove a 2015i GMC and yes it still had the noise. Jason it wasn't as bad as others, however it was still present and it was a 2015i just off the delivery truck. I would drive your new one and see maybe it wont be noticeable to you. Tell the dealer you want it overnight to make sure before you buy.

Interesting fact.....I again noticed the same circular marks on the inside of the windshield on this new GMC truck. They are in the same location as the others (Chevy and GM)so this must be some form of test they are doing on these trucks. They appear to be suction cup marks so I took pictures of them to add to my extensive file.... the dealership was baffled......I'm guessing that if its below a threshold on whatever test they are doing then it ships. I know there are some still bayed (4D00)for QC and have been delayed for weeks. Finally.... we are cashing out and getting a 2014 Suburban leftover. Not sure how it works so I will advise once the process is finished. Im pretty sure this will be our last GM product. I just don't have the time to go through all of this again and Im really upset about how GM is handling this. We know they know and they know its an issue but they deny its existence and treat all of us like we are an isolated faction. It would be nice it one of the monitors on this site would offer something other than WE ARE SORY YOU ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH OUR PRODUCT ...BS..... My advise to GM.... fire everyone who was involved with the R/D of this vehicle.... It should have never made it out of testing....Period.

Mary T. Barra you have your work cut out for you.

Hello Ryan,

I just got word that your vehicle is still at the dealership where they are looking into another option to resolve your vibration issue. Is this correct? I understand that if this issue is not resolved you would like to look into the option of a buyback. I would like to wait until the outcome of today to proceed with your request.

Again, thank you for your patience, and we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Kind regards,

Jennifer T.

Ryan,

I apologize, I did not realize I missed your message. I do not have any information. We have informed the proper people of this and once we get any information we will be sure to reach out to you. A buy back or switching your vehicle is something that would have to be discussed with your dealership. We are unable to assist with that.

Thank you,

Those are some of the PMs from GM. Nothing helpful. Eventually, they will always tell you to take it to the dealership. I am on a 24 hr test drive right now with a 2015 LTZ. Nice truck. Same noise. We drove a Cadillac esv. Same issue. We drove a 2015i Denali. Same issue. We drove a 2015 expedition platinum. No issue but not nearly as nice. The past week all I have done is test drive vehicles and every single dealer I spoke with said that this was the first they had heard of this. So either the problem is not as bad as we all think it is, or they are covering there butts. Literally don't know what to do at this point. ( I am screaming inside with frustration)

Dealer where I ordered mine says the same, first they have heard of this. My order should be in at the end of Jan or sometime in Feb and I don't know what to do either. Your 24 hr test drive is a great idea but I want to do it with the one I ordered.

The fact is, those are the marks from the robotics they use to install the glass from the factory... You're seeing the residue left over from the suction cups the arm uses to install the glass seamlessly.... AND from the fact that no one has wiped down the glass since it was installed :)

My 2010 Sierra had the exact same marks on the REAR glass..... I never clean it the entire time I owned it. Shhh! :)

Well.... you don't think I thought of that Huh.... THE MARKS ARE ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.....NOT OUTSIDE. Id like to see the robotic arm that can install a windshield from the inside.....The marks were NOT there on our truck when we bought it but were present after the GM engineer came down to evaluate it. .. try again.....

Interesting that they replaced your windshield. The 2015 trucks supposedly have an "acoustic laminated windshield" so I wonder if the engineers were thinking that had something to do with the buffeting.

Hi Guys

Looking at the posts about marks on the windshield. I would guess that they mounted sensors with a suction cup to test frequency or something like that.

A suction cup would leave a circular ring. May be worth asking the tech what tests they did and what equipment they used?

Couple thoughts to share:

1. These new generation of vehicle has some kind of "acoustic" glass to make the vehicle quieter. I wonder....

2. From what I'm seeing on this thread, the problem exisits on SLT's and Denali's. So, none of the "unique" features of the Denali are likely at play, such as the ANC, the Magnetic Ride shocks, 6.2L engine, etc. Something commong to both trim levels.

3. After driving it more on the weekend, it really seems to me to have something to do with the chassis/suspension. I can "feel" and "hear" it at very low speeds going over any rough surface. Like my gravel driveway at 20 kph. I am starting to think something in the tires/suspension/frame/chassis is being "excited" and then causing the sensation inside the cab. I'm not sure if it is a resonance or simply somehting that gets excited byt the road roughness.

4. At higher speeds, there is almost a "shudder" to it. And, i can feel it in my cheeks. IN fact, I've got a bit of a head cold and I could feel it in my sinus's. So, there is definitely a mechanical component to this, I think.

5. Check this out, while we're on the topic of chassis stiffness... http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/micro/damper/.

If GM is monitoring this, they really need to step up and start helping. I can understand not wanting the post openly on this forum, but setting up and channel of comminication to each vehicle owenr with this concern would be a place to start. I for one and very hesitant to go to the dealership until I know more about what the issue is, because;

a) I do not have the time to waste taking it in several times to get nothing accomplished (which is what we all knwo will happen, as the dealers don;t have a sniff of a clue how to fix this),

b) I want to avoid having to deal with the incompentents at the dealership as long as possible,

c) and I want to avoid as much as possible the frustration of being told all the usual retoric ("we've never seen this before", "no, this is not a common problem. You are the only one", or "nothing shows up in the codes, so there is nothing wrong withe vehicle".)

Mary T. Barra you have your work cut out for you.

With buy backs taking place, they clearly acknowledge the issue. And I think this issue is some what isolated. I'll spitball a number here and say that GM has sold 20,000 ish Tahoes and Yukons in the last year. Forums usually attract those searching for answers and those people group up here and there. So maybe 1-2%, if anywhere near that, of buyers are experiencing it? I'm sure GM sees that as isolated. I personally haven't experienced the problem after test driving and purchasing. and out of curiosity I've asked a few people about it and they've not experienced it either. Obviously theres an issue somewhere but I'm not sure it's as prevelant as some believe. And I wouldn't expect high level answers from someone who's probably not well paid to monitor social media.

With that said, this is an interesting thread with some very technical and intelligent responses. It will be be interesting to see who figures this out first.
