Interesting little event today. I backed into my driveway like I always do. Put the truck in park. took the keys out opened the door, foot off the break stepped out and the damn truck rolled away. Jumped in hit the breaks turned it on put in reverse backed up driveway park and made sure she was set. My driveway has the slightest of inclines i mean a bike wouldnt roll down it. 1000 miles on it. If my dealer wasnt 35 miles away i woulda went up. Hopefully its a one time deal anyone else hear of this I tried searching but putting transmission in the search bar is not a fun time haha

Is this caused by a defective pawl that fails to engage when the transmission is put in Park?

NORMAL (recall that is)

I don't mean to hijack ,but I just noticed today a delay when shifting the truck into gear. It was right after "cold start" so it was a fairly good jolt. My truck is due for the transfer case recall. Just curious if it could be related. The delay was probably a good 2 or 3 seconds.

This happened on my '13 when it was about a month old. I took it into the dealership and they "adjusted the cable". I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it never happened again, and I had the truck for another year after that.

GOod to know, the thing that angered me most is my 4 yr old hopped out of her seat and opend the door to jump out as the truck rolled away. Had anything happened to her, it would no longer be GM motors it would have been Toes on the nose motors haha. Ill let you know what the dealer says today

"{ Warning

It is dangerous to get out of the vehicle if the shift lever is not fully in P (Park) with the parking brake firmly set. The vehicle can roll. Do not leave the vehicle when the engine is running. If you have left the engine running, the vehicle can move suddenly. You or others could be injured. To be sure the vehicle will not move, even when you are on fairly level ground, always set the parking brake and move the shift lever to P (Park). See Shifting Into Park on page 9-30 and Driving Characteristics and Towing Tips"

This is printed in the owners manual for the 2014 Silverado.

Better read it so you know what the lawyer from GM is talking about.

yeah its good practice to always set my parking break in a brand new automatic vehicle in park and with the engine off :D

Called the Dealer, he said to bring it up right away, even if it doesnt happen again so he can let GM know. They will take a look at it.

My money would still go against GM on that one. The "parking brake" only says "push on - push off" on it. It's not labeled parking brake in any way. In an automatic vehicle, it's commonly referred to as an emergency brake. The average person, when P (park) is one of the normal options on their shifter, will put it in park and not even think it necessary to engage the emergency brake. Label it with "Parking Brake", and then I could see that fight being tougher. And in a vehicle with known issues relating to sudden and unwanted gear shifts, that labeling becomes all that more necessary. Hell, a jailhouse lawyer could win that fight.
