Mine did this all the time when new. Dealer could never "duplicate the problem'. One day I got so tired of it I slammed it into park while it was still moving. Made lots of noise but it never missed park again.

How about common sense?

I would expect the trans to work proper too. Especially in a new car.

But what else is a car manufacture supposed to do other than to print a manual and hand it to the owner?

And by the way, I knew as a kid years before I took my road test, how to securely park a vehicle. Because my dad taught me so.

Isn't it even part of the road test?

Easy does it, guy. You wanted to talk about how it would play out in a court room. There's nothing in the vehicle labeled as a parking brake, and these trucks have a known issue with switching into neutral on their own. You wana play the "what the lawyer would say" game, and I'm telling you how I think that would play out. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I find it hard to believe that such a problem could ever reach the common vehicle owner, but since my wife's Jeep just went through the same kind of thing not much surprises me anymore from any auto maker.

My money would still go against GM on that one. The "parking brake" only says "push on - push off" on it. It's not labeled parking brake in any way. In an automatic vehicle, it's commonly referred to as an emergency brake. The average person, when P (park) is one of the normal options on their shifter, will put it in park and not even think it necessary to engage the emergency brake. Label it with "Parking Brake", and then I could see that fight being tougher. And in a vehicle with known issues relating to sudden and unwanted gear shifts, that labeling becomes all that more necessary. Hell, a jailhouse lawyer could win that fight.

haha I would think this is probably related to the one that already exists. I mean, who's to say it didn't switch into neutral on him when it was in park, but before he turned it off and stepped out? And I think he mentioned that he did a VIN search to see if his truck needed that fix but didn't find it. Given that GM missed a bunch of other things, I wouldn't be surprised at all of they missed some trucks that actually need the software update.

I don't mean to hijack ,but I just noticed today a delay when shifting the truck into gear. It was right after "cold start" so it was a fairly good jolt. My truck is due for the transfer case recall. Just curious if it could be related. The delay was probably a good 2 or 3 seconds.

My truck when I put it in gear right after I start it up and go, it feels like it goes into neutral between 1-2 gear.

Rpms go up quickly and truck does not move for 2 seconds. It feels like it has been slipped in to neutral.

And yes I got the "unwanted neutral recall" done too!

There is issues with this transmission, get it documented and checked out for you and your own's safety!

He did reply to a question on page 1 if his truck was 2wd or 4wd. Since he replied 2wd and the shift into neutral so far is only on 4wd models I'd say it did not switch on it's own unless the shifter handle is miss aligned.

Yeah, I forgot about that post. Either way, I would be willing to bet that it wasn't operator error, given that A) He's a truck guy, so we can assume he has at least a little common sense, B) He's actually admitting to it, and C) There have already been a lot of issues straight off the assembly line with this year's model. I wouldn't at all be surprised if there was one more they havn't picked up on yet.

In my 20 years of owning and driving every vehicle I could imagine, ive never been able to pull a key out of the ignition of an automatic vehicle if it is shut off and not in park. I cannot imagine the skill it would take to have a brand new vehicle roll away on you have you place it in park, shut it off remove key grab your wallet and step out of truck hahaha
