Yesterday I answered this poll with Love it and on the way in this morning my brand new Sierra died in traffic on the interstate. Clunk in the transmission check engine light, then the truck died. The result, the 2 week old truck has been towed to the dealship.

ARGH!!!

Stay tuned for a review of the situation on how this experience has been. So far OnStar and GM Roadside Assistance are complete failures. Incompetitance from the time I pushed the button. Lucky I am a AAA member, otherwise I'd still be on the side of the freeway.

I might actually hit 20k miles in first year of ownership, mostly highway. 4 or 5 mpg extra would have ended up saving me a lot of money in the first year alone. Wondering what models, gears...etc you guys have to be getting such great fuel economy. Just another reason I am about to make them buy mine back for what I paid. Looks like I could get an extra 3 or 4 mpg even running larger, more aggresive tires if I had a different model.

Mine is a crew cab with the 3.42 rear and 20's.

Mine had a production date of 6-14 and I haven't had 1 issue, but also I haven't had it long. Its everything I have ever wanted in a truck, I used to trade them every 2 years. At times much sooner. a chevy to a ford, LTZ to king ranch, Lt to a lariat, half ton to 3 quarter. Never feeling quite satisfied. Always felt something was lacking, missing. I truly feel pleased now, I don't look at other trucks on the road and say to myself maybe I should of tried that one. As I am driving in a whisper quiet cab getting pampered by the best ride I have ever experienced in a pick up,(maybe even a coupe de ville) getting, by my standards pretty good gas millage and awesome power all I can do is smile like a possum eating a handful of yellowjackets. It feels great!

Heheheheheeee, oh me, the BEST post here swamp! Let's see now, Chevy, F150 King Ranch, now Chevy, trade often - OKAY!! I want ye truck when ye get a new one in a year!! I canno' afford a new one.

Anyway, I voted yes, but don't have one. I ain't never seen a truck I don't like! Got to test drive one, but I don't like my town's only GM dealer. That old boy owns everything here except Nissan and Ford dealerships! I ain't joking nor jestin'.

Here's a question. Would it be better to avoid buying an earlier build, say built in 2013, because of some of the quality problems? And hope you'll avoid those problems by picking up a later build?

Mine was built October 2013 and I have zero problems. My neighbors 2014 Sierra was built July 2013 and he also has zero problems with his.

Mine built May 13 and purchased July 13 and only LED rings an issue so far. Had a couple programming recalls, but no issues.

Andy,

I hope everything turned out okay! I would be happy to look into what happened during your Roadside Assistance request. Will you please send your account information and/or full VIN of your vehicle to me in a PM? Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you.

I went and test drove a 14 SLE extended cab while I was getting the oil changed in my 13. While I was waiting for the saleman to give some numbers a 14 Silverado showed up on a flatbed. I asked the owner and he said the key would not turn in the ignition and so he couldn't start it. They took care of him in about 45 min and sent him on his way. He seemed to be pretty happy with his truck otherwise.

Back to the test drive:

It had some welcome improvements... seemed more planted on the road. Quieter cab (but my AT tires are very noisy, so maybe this is unfair). Suspension was more compliant... the cab didn't shift as much which provided a more car-like ride. Obviously the interior is better. The engine seemed nice and powerful.

On the negative side.... it seemed smaller (this is subjective, I know). I sat behind the drivers seat and barely had any room for my knees (I'm 5'11'' and fit great behind my seat in the 13). The area in the cab in front of the driver seemed smaller as well. It also seemed to ride lower, and it was a Z71 with AT tires just like mine. The backup camera is a nice addition but the resolution is too poor. I didn't have the easiest time changing stations on the touchscreen XM interface.

I liked it but not enough to trade my 13. I got such a killer deal on my 13, that even with my employee discount and incentives on the 14, I would have to shell out 6k more for a comparably equipped model. I'll probably drive one again in a few years and reconsider.
