does gm use different alignment specs.for different size wheels

In theory if your wheels are aligned it shouldn't matter which tire/wheel combo you put on. Offset or tire width could exaggerate bad alignment, but not change it since you are alignment is technically in respect with the wheel hub. I was curious if anyone knew if gm actually has different alignment specs for the different OEM wheel sizes 17-22etc

Your spot on with theory, however I can not advise on specs.

Here's my theory.

1. Lower profile tires will be more sensitive to camber changes, especially for cornering performance
2. higher profile tires can benefit from different camber to allow for tread deflection (roll under), where a low profile tire may produce erratic handling with the same approach

They even change them based on suspension IE 4x4, or just the Z71 package and then tire size as well.

 

I had to take a 07Colorado back on a recall because it had been setup with the base models number.

 

Little production issue back then.

Suspension, 2 or 4 wheel, tire type and size, cab configurations, wheelbase, there is differences. Looking at 2014 specs, most of the variations is in the caster measurements. Toe and camber are relatively all the same specs, its the caster that varies.

On my 2007 Yukon XL denali I ran into this exact issue when upgrading from 20"-22". The build site would show that the wheels would be installed at the dealer but the truck would be prealigned to accept. Firestone had no specs for a Yukon in that configuration. Had to take a printout from parts to the firestone dealer to have the alignment set properly. Found out later that using Escalade specs for the same year would have worked.
