I have a question, are you driving the truck of your choice and if it is not a GM what are you doing here?

He could be having problems with his ford and hes looking around. I did that before I bought mine.

or you just like the forum. good group of guys here.

p.s. the 2.7L ecoboost ford interests me, but i'm not a fan of the rear aesthetics of the 2015 F150's. i can't put my finger on it but something about the rear of the truck is just not appealing to me. the GM twins on the other hand look great from all angles. i have a couple more years before i buy a new truck so i have time to mull it over and read more glorious threads here at gm-trucks.

A few years ago I went from driving 60K miles a year to 10K miles a year, the need for getting a new truck every two years was gone, so I lost touch and started forum hopping. I lean GM but was looking at the Ecoboost for the sole reason a tune could add 100HP to the 365 it had stock. I always though Ford trucks looked too bland but with 465HP I could deal. While I was doing the dealer haggle I when on the ford forums and found there were some problems with the Ecoboost and killed the deal. So if anyone from the dark side wants to hop on the forum it should be encouraged. Even with the problems some are having with the GMs for the most part they will get you home. Next year Ill be checking out the diesels and the Ecoboost again so Ill be forum hopping again.

A close friend has a '13 SHO with the 3.5 Ecoboost. It just turned 40k miles. It is blowing clouds of blue smoke, lost power and economy, and is loosing coolant. The car as a whole is one big turd. The dealer is not helping him out, and now is litigating FoMoCo. Another acquaintance had a '12 Ecoboost F150. The timing chain failed at 34k miles. He now drives a '14 Sierra 5.3 and says that truck is light years above the Ford in almost every way.

A month ago I went back to a 5.3. I had an f150 ecoboost and though it did blow the doors off my 2014 silverado, the power delivery sucked. I had a tune on the truck that comparable trucks on the f150 forums were running over 400 hp on a dyno and close to 500 lbs/tq with... that said, the power always lagged, and when it came on it wasn't linear. I also had problems with cruising speed 6th gear shudder. The engine would lug so bad under small load that it would feel like I was riding on a rumble strip, or something to the effect of a poorly paved road, until it would down shift, this was mostly while towing or driving up an incline. Needless to say, the feeling wasn't very comforting. It happened without the tune as well. The front end made a horrible clanking noise if I took a speed bump even slightly fast... you can't compare the ride of a ford to a gm truck.

All in all it wasn't too tough to let the boost go. I had 2008 5.3 and really like the new engine as well. My silverado is getting great gas mileage and is just all around much smoother.
