Looking on the ford F150 build it and price site is like night and day compared to the limited crap GM is doing these days. I actually feel like ford is allowing me to build my own truck the way I want, while GM allows you to build a truck the way they want! It has made me make up my mind that I'm not even going to attempt looking at replacing my 05 until the 2015 fords are on the lots, and no I don't care if they cost more especially if I get more!

similarly equipped ecoboosts have higher payload ratings and GVWRs than GMs products. So they have that going for them.

The way I go home every night it seems the every one is in a hurry to get to sixty, its fun and safe. I wouldn't call it drag racing, just getting up to speed between lights. My 5.3 on E85 doesn't seem to have any problem with the eco boost, or the hemi and the Toyota. I even had some fun with a challenger till 40 then it was over. The guys that seem to get pretty wild are the ones in diesels, the gasser pretty much don't mess, but when two diesels line up people pretty much hang back.

A 5.3 on E-85 with 3:42s is no slouch. It's rated at 380 h.p. and 416 tq. That's more h.p.than the EB, if that matters. What matters to me is I have a dependable, quiet, great looking, truck that is fun to drive. It rides a lot smoother than that Ford too. Mine is a spunky little truck. In two years, after the warranty is gone, I can get a tune and gain a lot more. I probably won't because just on E-85 I have way more than adequate power. Most important to me is I like my truck overall more than the F 150 I drove. I didn't buy it to race. I bought the nicest truck!

Im sure they will work the bugs out, it only took about 3 or 4 years to figure out they needed to add more threads in the heads of their 4.6s and 5.4s, to keep the plugs in. I think those 6.0 diesel where only around for just a couple of years, great motors they were.

Maybe its because im about to be 59, I never though in my wildest imagination that I say I have enough power, im there with this truck. My other truck is a stroked blown monster, I hardly drive it. My 14 is just plain fun to drive.

Thats another knock on GM with all models specially their trucks and I think you will find most would agree. In comparison to dodge and Ford, there is very little GM offers in terms of customization.

I did some pretty in depth comparison when I was looking, the Texas package I bought was pretty hard loaded for the price. The only thing I wanted that wasn't offered that dodge had was the big motor. I was a little disappointed with that until I lined up with my brothers dodge hemi. Same with my brother in laws Toyota, I guess the GMs must be lighter. The only 6.2s Ive seen are lifted with big tires, that slows them down a lot.

I was almost overwhelmed but in a good way. I have owned nothing but GM trucks for the last 25 years and their constant meddling with paint choices and rim choices pertaining to certain packages have really turned me away from their product.

GMs option package is like a choice between glazed, plain, or chocolate doughnuts. not much more than that.

Except that the merit comes from an investigation by the National Highway Administration and Safety that the just closed in 2014 .........I quote............ " NHTSA has closed an investigation into a reported performance deficit without ever getting to the recall stage.

The issue revolves around the Ford F-150 – specifically those equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine – of which some 360,000 were built in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 model years. After receiving an initial 95 complaints, NHTSA opened an investigation last May – almost a year ago – into the reported issue of reduced engine power under hard acceleration. The agency has since received a total of 525 such complaints, and Ford itself reported receiving over 4,000.

Together, NHTSA and Ford determined that the problem resulted from cylinders misfiring, an issue itself stemming from water getting into the charge air cooler (CAC) mated to the turbochargers. In particularly humid or rainy conditions, water was found to get into the CAC, causing some of the cylinders to misfire, which in turn triggered the ECU to disable those cylinders in order to protect the catalytic converter from damage........end of quote

so at least 4500 reported cases of turbo problems let alone the grocery getter purchasers that would not of noticed they were having problems so went unreported !..... and premium reccommended.......So Nardo and you seem to be the ones ignoring the problems and fawning over Fords on a GM site. But trade in your GM if you dare take on Ford's problems!

that's why I said your post had ALMOST not merit to it. yes, there is a known problem with some EB's. Got it!

Answer this question for me; is there a known problem with '14 GM trucks?

Like I stated earlier, this day in age whatever truck you buy whether it be dodge... sorry I mean Ram, Ford or GM you are going to get a good vehicle. All of the big three are going to have some vehicles that are going to have problems and are going to break down. I personally buy GM because I work on my own vehicles for the most part and working on a GM is much easier to me than working on a Ford and dodge just sucks a$$ and like someone stated earlier GM has been improving the pushrod engine each time the LS series engines are the best thing that ever happened to GM.

Ford rarely keeps an engine. Every couple of years my company buys me a new ford company truck and its always a complete surprise to open the hood and see what ford is running now due to the last engine was junk. (in December we all switch to :chevrolet: ) :driving:. so ill just keep my so called dated ecotech 5.3 and be happy like i have for years and years and years.

I never knew by running e85 you got more power?.

In the 14s 5.3, you gain 25 HP with E85.

I have a question, are you driving the truck of your choice and if it is not a GM what are you doing here? troll.jpg

He could be having problems with his ford and hes looking around. I did that before I bought mine.
