So, I'm sitting here at the computer last night, when I hear something messing around with the trash cans.

So I'm thinking "oh Sh*t, somebody's trying to break in!", so I run to the back door, and hit the flood lights over the backyard. (Hey, if I get attacked, I know gow to scream, yell and punch and Kick, and plus I'll be able to give a description to the police).

Well,I look out there, and I see nobody, but I notice the trash can lids had been taken off. So I look closer to the cans, and  3 seconds later a racoon poked his head out of the trash can and looked  straight at me, a couple seconds later, a 2nd racoon popped his head out of the other can.

I thought it was so funny, the way their heads stuck out the trash cans. It was "cute". :)

This was the first time I'd seen a Racoon too, so I was excited, I stood there for 30 minutes and watched them eat up the garbage, didn't bother to shoo em off or anything.   :nono:

Now that they know you like them, you'll see them all the time...  They are pests and will keep coming back until you get rid of them.

RACCOONS ARENT CUTE

We had em living in our rafters last yr.  It was a PITA.  WE actually caught one with a trap (it was a big one, mean too it was barking after it got caught).

We had exterminators come out.  The fixed the rafters sealed em up put metals things over vents and such.

Later last summer the neighbor got em and they destroyed their attic

They also can carry rabies.  If you are a gardener, it won't take long to really dislike them.  They know the very day that corn is ready to pick and they get it the night before!  :nono:

Back in the mid-90's, our area flooded in all of the lower areas.

A close friend and I took a 14 ft "John" boat down the "roads" of the hunting club.  On a floating log, we trapped a flying squirrel.  On a large overturned stump, we captured a raccoon.  That was one mean S.O.B.  Both of us were actually timid about handling the cage.  Boy was he pi$$ed.  We set him free on dry ground about 300 yards from where he was trapped.  He tried to get into the boat and "get" at us.  The oars "convinced" him to leave us alone.

Racoons are no big deal compared to skunks. We've had those things real bad around here the last couple of months. We had two of them living in an old shop by my house and it wasn't pretty getting them out of there. :nono:

Its a lose-lose situation trying to get rid of a skunk.  :)

Yeah, they are pests, but if you think I'm gonna shoot them or try to kill them you are mistaking.   :nono:

I will not shoot at anything That has 4 legs (excluding mice), I'd rather sit back and enjoy watching them do their stuff, rather than point a gun at them. :)

Never had an encounter with a racoon but have once ran over a dead skunk with our 18ft PTO shredder

Took out some sort of black snake once with a 61" Scag commercial tractor in a field a number of years back.  That was fun :D

I chased a frog accross the back yard with the tiller one time.....

.....Like I said one time.

My a$$ still hurts from that beating.

Stupid little sucker got away too.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
    • Sounds like a smart reasonable person with common sense. Bill O’Riley never said he was just a journalist, by the way.

    • Wouldn't swapping out the original AFM/DFM parts for a complete Delete Kit be the best route to go if one could afford to go that route?
    • It comes with directions but yes, generally, it's the same.  Also, get you the dipstick stuff to install dipstick so you have one.
