Howdy y'all.

although I have owened several trucks, I just bought a new 2014 Sierra reg. cab/reg. bed 4.3/v6 work truck.

I love the truck, but, unfortunately have developed a drive train problem the gmc dealer can't figure out.

is there topic section here to solicit input as possible areas to look at for a fix?

thanks,

sam

less than 500 miles on her.

on acceleration and deceleration... I am getting a loud knocking noise from the driveshaft/universal area.

I feel it may be a universal joint... but gmc dealer sez it's a loose baffle in the muffler. doesn't make sense to me. they are replacing the muffler.

what do you think?

thanks,

sam

>>>>>>>>>>>PROBLEM CORRECTED!!!

Took my sierra 1500 to the local GMC dealer. they hooked up some listening devices on the truck's underside and found the noise coming from the muffler. it turned out to be a passive exhaust valve that was making the sound similar to a bad universal joint.

they replaced the muffler with resonator and the tailpipe.

Happy to say.... no more clunking or cracking sounds.

service bulletin PI1201A from GMC APPLIES.
