Truck is still at the body shop. As of yesterday, it still hadn't been touched.... not impressed. I was told that they are running behind and that they would be starting mine today.

Picked mine up today. Too snowy for pics but I will post them soon. Took them exactly 5 days...dropped it off on Monday.

 

It looks very good. They sanded their clear coat orange peel down to match the factory orange peel (minimal). The color match is just fine.

 

So all's well that ends well. Also got a lifetime warranty on the work.

I dropped mine off on a Tuesday and got it back the following Thursday. They did give me a loaner truck for that time period. I thought it took a long time but I didn't want them to do a rush job either.

Are you having them chip guard the bottom?

Yes. I got to see it yesterday, but it still isn't done. They sprayed the paint and where the new paint meant the original, the new metallic had laid a little different. So they did it again and it went better. The texture job is excellent in my opinion. When we pulled the tape though, there is a little difference between the new and old. They hadn't wet sanded and buffed it yet so i'm hoping come Monday, it will blend together a little better. :/ It's already been in the shop for 2 weeks, i'm hoping it turns out so they don't have to keep it any longer. He sprayed the chip guard on heavy at the bottom and then lightened it up towards the top so it would match the paint where it meant. The chip guard is real close to the factory orange peel. Where he stopped by the rear taillight, the new paint and chip guard is smother than the factory paint. Again, hopefully it wet sands and buffs out. They did both bumpers and both sides to the first body line up.

So... I got it back for a week. Had all kinds of issues, so now it's back in the body shop again. Hopefully it comes out better this time.

What kind of issues? Not with paint but had same experience with every "fix" I had

Over spray, missing bolts, colors didn't match, they scratched my rocker all to hell getting in and out of the truck, burnt the paint in a few spots when they buffed it, and a few other things. Where they stopped the new paint, there is a horrible line and there were several spots where when they pulled they tape, and it pulled to new paint.

Sounds like the body shop at my local dealer. I hate your having that experience.

Just my opinion but why continue to have this shop work on your truck, clearly they are hacks if they allowed their work to leave their shop in that state?

I didn't have a choice.... It's the dealers body shop and the only one in town that is "GM Certified." Trust me, I tried to get in the one of my choice but I was shot down. I don't think the shop that's doing it knew how picky I am, but they do now. I was told by the service manager that they will do whatever until i'm happy. At this point, it's looking like a buy back and a new truck. We will see when I get it back again.

There is no way I would accept that. They need to paint the bottoms and feather/blend into the upper body, then clear coat the entire side of the truck. That is one body shop I would avoid!

      I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need.webcrimsNY

      I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.

      Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
