How much time did it take for that much paint to come off? Have you tried to warranty it?

It took about one week for it to flake off.

I have spoken to my dealer. It will be checked by them and I have no doubt it will be eligible for warranty. They indicated they had done this already for another '14.

My 2014 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4 is being repainted now under Warranty. The GMC Body Shop Supervisor said that the rock guard area (rough area at bottom edge of truck) was a new product for some of the 2014 GMC/Chevy trucks. I found that a lot of dealers don't know about it until you bring it to their attention and they investigate the issue. Shame on GM for not bringing it to all GMC/Chevy truck owners. I also found that GM Dealerships are not thrilled about doing Warranty work on paint issues. As in an earlier post the 11th V.I.N. on my truck is Z. Be persistent on this because you will get results.

Just set up mine do be done the week of the 23rd. Doing both sides and front bumper. Probably going to pay the extra the have the hood done while it's in there. Hopefully the roof and tailgate match up when it's all done.

Well, currently still haven't got my truck fixed. Talked to the dealer I normally work with, they didn't seem to want to help me. I contacted GM, who contacted the dealer, and because I bought my truck used with 7k on it from a used car dealer, they said they don't warranty paint. That's BS. So I went to another local dealer and mentioned the TSB about paint. This was the first they had heard about it. After looking at my truck, they said my offset wheels are going to make it harder to get warranty, but I'm to bring it back in tomorrow for them to take pictures. I put my stock wheels and tires back on, hopefully all goes well.

I hope they're willing to warranty this for you with no trouble.

I just got a nice dime sized chip on my front bumper. Sucks. Prolly have to repaint the whole bumper?

So the body shop will be repainting my entire truck, front to back, except the hood roof and tailgate. It's about $5,000 in work they said. No small task. The whole truck will get taken apart...door seals, window seals, wheel well arches, mud flaps, decals and emblems, mirrors, front and rear bumpers. Etc. It will be interesting to see...I will take progress photos and post them here.

I would just get some touch up paint to cover it with and it will make it less noticeable. I wouldnt repaint it as it will just do it again unless you get a clear bra

The re-paint may not stick as good (long term wise) as the original paint, maybe just touch it up (have a shop do it - they can be VERY good at it)

Would be a good time to debadge/do mold as in have them leave the stuff off instead of reinstalling it.

In reference to post #83, in my experience as soon as a dealer tell's me "we've never seen this" I know they're lying.
