E85?

So do you have catch cans on your two vehicles? I've been meaning to buy one for the Acadia so I dont have to clean the milkshake gunk out every few weeks.

I have an Elite Catch can on my Camaro but have not gotten around to putting one on the Acadia. The last time I checked the Acadia I got about a teaspoon of oil out of the intake tube. That was with 30k miles on it from new and the first time I checked it. I was lazy up to that point. But my Camaro has a good 2oz of oil in it after 2k miles of driving on it.

Science behind this?

I know right.

-Burns cleaner

-Is 85% Alcohol and Gas

-15-20% more Consumption (thats why you get less mpg)

-Higher octane ratings allows our Flex Fuel trucks to run more timing. Equals an estimated 25hp/25trq

-Corrosion myth has been proven false on if used on new Flex Fuel vehicles.

Alcohol will vary from 51%-83%. Octane will vary as well. Be advised you can't do a standard rm2 octane rating on alcohol. Some kind of

Alcohol will vary from 51%-83%. Octane will vary as well. Be advised you octane numbers for e85 are largely bogus. "There is no requirement to post octane on an E85 dispenser. If a retailer chooses to post octane, they should be aware that the often cited 105 octane is incorrect. This number was derived by using ethanol’s blending octane value in gasoline. This is not the proper way to calculate the octane of E85. Ethanol’s true octane value should be used to calculate E85’s octane value. This results in an octane range of 94-96 (R+M)/2. These calculations have been confirmed by actual octane engine tests"

We'll it burns better than Dino in these trucks, it does burn more of it, but everyone knows that when they put it in the tank.

I'm not defending Dino vs corn juice or vice versa.

I just know i like running it, and I have seen it appears most like it when they try it in the 14-15 gm trucks.

You know, I might be going back to E85....Yeah I do like the fuel economy of 91, but the truck just seemed to respond so well with E85, not night and day difference, but it just "felt" like it did. Placebo? Possibly..

I really don't think it's the "placebo" effect. I was running E 85 since February. 91 was 40 cents cheaper so I got a tank of 91. Big difference to me. I had to change lanes and went to about half throttle to pass a slow moving car. I got around with room to spare but it definitely didn't respond like it did on E 85. Mileage went up 2 m.p.g. I guess I'll go back to E 85. It'll cost about $10 a week for the way I drive but the extra zip is worth it to me.

Definitely not a placebo effect. The truck has been dynoed to show a significant increase of about 20hp/20trq at the wheels, just by running e85. That is a very good upgrade coming from just using different fuel. You could run 91 and do intake/exhaust and not get those kind of numbers.

With a tune, E-85 vs 93; E-85 definitely runs and pulls better.

Canned tune + corn juice = well done tires

Yea, that was corny, but if it is available in your area and you are not a corn commie, give it a shot, at least a couple tanks, it's like crack, you'll be addicted.

Ethanol is garbage. Very bad for vehicles. Where I live we use pure gas no ethanol. 87 is all u need.

Not true. E85 is bad for non e85 vehicles. High milage e85 engines are cleaner of carbon buildup than the equivalent engine running gasoline. E85 cleans the system up. E85 is worse for the environment to produce than gas.

all I know is u can't go wrong with pure ethanol free gas. I don't care if my truck is flex fuel. If it's not good for my lawnmower I'm not putting it in a $50k truck. Just my opinion.

Lol you cant compare a carbureted lawnmower to a truck with ECM

Can you explain why ethanol is "garbage" and why it's bad for vehicles?

-E85 burns cleaner.

-Makes our trucks produce more horsepower and torque, about 20hp/20trq, at the wheels.

-Cheaper than gas

-Will not corrode fuel lines or tanks. This myth has been busted numerous of times.

Lol ok. We could go on and on about this. I'm not alone on this. I live in Oklahoma and I would say that the majority of people here do not want ethanol in there daily driver.

The only problem with e85 is that it eats up gaskets and fuel lines after a long time but with the e85 option we have upgraded fuel lines, gaskets, fuel pump. E85 is a ton cleaner for the engine
