Anyone use these in their projector headlights

Those are not projectors. Those are just blue coated light bulbs. do not buy these. they are not HID projectors. They are still halogen bulbs.

I'm about to replace my headlight bulbs -- 9012's with 9011's -- GMC Sierra, 2014 -- to give me a little more light (65W bulb instead of 55W bulb). I have two bulbs on order now. Minor mods will be required to the bulb base to make the 9011 fit, but appears to be something that works and offers a modest improvement.

Not that interested in getting a whiter or bluer bulb, e.g., variants of the 9012 with different colors but no increase in actual light.

Also not interesting in a HID conversion because of warranty issues and lack of confidence in the idea... too many negative comments, although it obviously works well for some folks.

Love my 2014 Sierra -- truly great truck -- only the headlights are pretty sucky, particularly on rainy nights!

I don't think that's what he asked. He has the Chevy projector LTZ lights, which use the 9005 bulb, and wants to know if someone has tried those bulbs in the OEM projectors. I'm guessing he wants a whiter color. Those bulbs should do that.

In reading some reviews, some people thought they were brighter, some thought they were not.

If brighter, plug in bulbs were the goal, I'd look into putting in a 9011 bulb. It may take a little modifying of the plastic tabs on the bulb, but the output will be in the area of 50% or more higher lumens. But they won't be any whiter.

Silverstars are great bulbs, but because they burn so hot the life of the bulb is greatly reduced. I really liked the ones I put in my 08 and 05.

Silverstars might be cheaper at CARID:

Go to product options- select product options - for the different available bulbs and cost.

Free shipping. ZXE - $77.50 for both high and low beams bulbs (4) as of 12/13/2014.

Anyone used these bulbs and if they are worth while to install?

I use the ZXE in the older GMT800 Denali projectors. Not as bright as HIDs, but they dont blind people. They do decent for a 65w halogen. Well my 9005's are 65w.

the high beams are 9005 and the lows are 9006. Do The Retrofit Source projector swap and HID conversion if you want it to be day time in front of your truck without blinding people. You will love it.

Do the silverados still use 9006 low and 9005 high? I have to use 9005 in both.

Posted

Yes. I went HID so my 9006 are now D2S, but my lows are still the stock 9005. One of my other cars has 4 of the same bulb an it's nice because if I ever loose a headlight bulb on a trip I can stop and put a high beam in it until I can make it to a parts store.

According to Carid on the ZXE the high beam is 9005 and the low beam is H11. How is 9006 or D2s coming into play? Confused?

Many bulbs have different numbers even though they are the same. Like Silverado dog lights are 5202 or some H16. I swapped projectors in my low beams for HID projectors and HID lights so now I'm using D2S bulbs. I messed up and put my lows instead of my highs are still 9005 bulbs. Sorry.

Yeah those bulbs are the same watt but that blue coating which makes it whiter takes away so light output making the lumen rating lower.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
