So I started the debadging process and need some info on adhesive rem

The sierra on the tailgate came off very easy and now I'm wishing I would've stopped there. I decided to remove the gmc logo and dang it is tough. So far I've used a blow dryer and just warming up the adhesive and pulling it off but is their anything u guys recommend or do I just tough it out and do this slow process ?

Spray some WD40 as well. That way any adhesive that comes off can't stick back onto the truck.

I personally just used WD40 and a old iTunes card. No hair dryer or any heat. The card cuts through the adhesive and the WD40 prevents any more sticking after it comes off. I had mine off pretty quick. And use a 3M eraser wheel to pull off the adhesive. Not sure if you knew that but it helps a lot.

The guys that do this say dental floss to cut the emblems off. Then all kinds of ideas and concoctions to remove the adhesive.

Use an air powered rubber wheel! Just take it to a body shop they can do it in like 3 minutes lol

I don't notice any damage but with a black truck I'd be weary. I'd use fishing line to cut through it with a black truck.

I've got the actual logo off. It's just now I've got a bunch of black adhesive left. Sorry, should have been more clear

3M eraser wheel should take it off.

When I pulled my letters off I tried buffing and quick waxing all the adhesive off. I washed the truck yesterday (almost a week later) and I realized I didn't get all the adhesive. Went and bought a 3M eraser wheel and now everything is gone. Plus a few other issues I had with things that wouldn't come off the paint. This wheel is incredible.

I usually use goo gone for this and then a rubber wheel. After i remove everything the whole car gets polished to clean off the residue and get a nice coat of wax over it. Even if there is some residue left that you cant see it could affect the shade or discoloration of the pain in those areas. Might be over kill but thats just my 2c. I haven't done my truck yet.

I was leary of using one of those wheel eraser things....I had visions of burnt paint and swirl marks in my head. I just used a microfiber towel with some gas and slowly just worked it off. Cleaned the area and polish and wax it.

Not trying to be rude but this post cracked me, using a tool specifically designed to do the job scared me so I just used gasoline instead

Ha....I can see your point. I guess I have seen spilt gas on paint with no issues for my entire life. The eraser wheel was an unknown.

eraser wheel is pricey but is worth every penny. it turned a 2 hour job (side moldings) into a 30 minute job with no signs that the molding or eraser wheel was ever there.
