So I started the debadging process and need some info on adhesive rem

Just used the 3m eraser wheel! Cheapest I could find it was 50 bucks. I considered just having the body shop do it for 75 but thought I really want to do this myself. So went ahead and got it. Set it up and got after it. I used light pressure and redid the area about three times to get all the adhesive. Cleaned area with rubbing alcohol and microfiber after final use of wheel. Came out great! The GMC ghost image is still kinda their. What will get this from showing up? Truck looks so much better. Gonna do the doors when it warms up a bit to pull the emblems off

It should be gone, but hit it with some polishing compound and wax. It will vanish.

What kind of body shop will do it for 75$!!!! We usually do it for almost nothing and for a returning customer free!

Dang bro wish that was the case here with them doing it for free. Told me I would need to leave my truck and it would take a while. Literally took me 20 mins lol. Anyway it worked out, I'm happy with the results

I would think age has a lot to do with it, paint fading and all but you also have a 14... I just applied mirror glaze on mine and waiting for it to dry so I can buff it out. Just under 50 here in southeast MI. Doors came out nice.

Amazing that people are seeing anything underneath the emblems... I debaged a gray 2003 silverado with about 120k miles and it looked perfect underneath

It has kinda faded but I know its still their. Gonna deal with it now til I can get some decent compound

I took my side moldings off after about 10 months on the truck and no matter what angle you look at it, you cannot tell that they were even there.

i've started debadging mine too as well.

 

just took a plastic pry bar and slowly pry until it the letter/logo move a bit then i held the pressure but not too much to take care of metal/paint

 

still trying to find "Silverado" already in black somewhere but i find nothing so i will maybe do a decal for it or just leave it as now (clean with no pub)

 

for the logo , i separated the gold from the chrome ,, i'm thinking leaving the chrome portion and only paint the chrome part,,,,,,still have to think

The ideal way to remove badges because i do this at my shop is take a heat gun until it softens up, then use a plastic pry tool and remove the emblem or trim, then use a 3M rubber wheel (air powered) and then buff the area with a wool pad and compound. But thats only if you want to make it literally look perfect.

Buffing compound thats used for wet sanding and then with a polish pad and polish

You shouldn't need rubbing compound, just polish. It's less abrasive and is basically the 3rd step in a process of wet sanding, rubbing or buffing, then polishing, and finally wax.

I know but it removes any scratches the pry tool might leave. The polish wont cut any imperfections left behind
