GM Employee Pricing

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping someone can help understand something. I get employee pricing through a grandfather that retired from GM and have purchased 5 or 6 vehicles over the years using the discount. I recently found a truck at a local dealer that I was interested in so I called my usual salesman for employee pricing. Here is where I'm confused. The price he quoted me with employee pricing and all applicable rebates was almost $2k higher than what they had the truck advertised for online. Employee pricing used to be the best deal you could get. What happened?

Did it include tax and destination? Also, as I'm sure you know, those online prices are positively notorious for being B/S. If I was you I would try getting a quote from another dealer and see what's up.

My guess was the Internet price was BS, but I thought I would see if anyone had info on any changes to employee pricing before I do any serious shopping.

Employee pricing hasn't been anything special since like 2008 or so.

Some rebates are not applicable when using Employee or Supplier pricing. Usually the advertised price is with all possible rebates.

I used a code in December to get the employee discount(through my grandparents as well), it was almost exactly 2k less than the supplier discount price. When I used the employee discount and combined it with other rebates they had that month, it dropped the price from 55.5k to ~41k before TTL. No trade in or money down, just dropped it to that price no questions asked. Seemed good in my book, it's the first time I've used the discount too, so I can't speak for how it used to be.

This is more like how I remember it in the past. I'll have to try another dealer. Sounds like he either did something wrong or is trying to screw me over.

Im sure you have, but, Have you got on the friends and family site and built a vehicle? I got on there just messing around to see what options/packages were available and what packages could be combined with others etc. I didn't order mine bc they had a 100% match at the local dealer luckily. I mainly got on there to see what the employee pricing was for the different models and builds. It was spot on with what I got at the dealer though.

They also showed me a printout with the different prices listed that included the MSRP and then friends/family/supplier/employee discounts.

If you have a dealer that gives out loaners buy one of those! I got my Z71 with employee price with rebate plus a extra 5% off for being a demo. My truck had 1800 miles and I paid $38 with tax title etc! And if your grandparents die say bye bye to the code. I was told once both pass the GM code doesn't pass on.

Man I went to get a 2014 that was a demo, they sold it an hour before I got there and hadn't updated to online site. I still got into a 15 for not much more and with 1 mile on it so I was happy.

I was reading online and my mom and her brother supposedly can keep using the program once the grandparents pass, but I could be wrong. I've got another family member that can offer up an employee code now though too so I'm golden for a while lol.

There's supplier and then there's employee.... I forget the exact names but they DEFINITELY aren't the same. Supplier, I recall is not as good as employee. I've had supplier and you can combine some of the incentives... in my history of like 5 of these, it seems like they discount wipes out the tax and all the b.s. and it can help you get into a good bumper to bumper warranty.

I just can't fathom 50K+ for these new trucks....

Hi all

About 3 weeks ago I wrecked my 07 canyon. I played chicken with a pine tree and nobody calls me chicken. Anyway insurance sent me a check and I bought this sweet lil 05 Sierra , 32000 miles, tow package, air leveler, for 10.5 k. An old fella owned and I bought it from his son.

I have a problem though and it's driving me nuts. The truck has ss aftermarket mirrors. The mirrors move when I back up and I have to readjust them. wtf?. It doesn't matter if the selector switch is in the center or selecting either left or right, they both move. Anyone ever heard of this?
