Curious why you put the check valve on the supply side. I have the dual exit can so I put one on each exit hose and thought about putting one one the supply line next to the exit on the engine to keep anything that was in the hose from going back into the engine. People told me not to worry about. I'm not saying your wrong I was just curious when I saw you picture.

I put it on the wrong side as their instructions were somewhat lacking and it made sense to me at the time. Its not in that location anymore.

I got mine in the mail this afternoon. I'm actually really impressed with the product. In an attempt to keep the hoses short and not worry about the hissing noise, I'm planning on fabbing up a simple bracket off the master cylinder like the RX can uses. Hope to get to it on Friday afternoon/evening.

Found some time this afternoon to knock it out. Longest part of the install was making a bracket. 1400 miles on truck. Almost zero oil in manifold or throttle body.

got mine in yesterday and installed today. im still confused on where the hoses go i have outlet going under the air intake (throttle body) and the intake going to the right side is this correct? iv scrolled though all the posts and iv read it being installed both ways and seen pics of it installed both ways. im just wondering what the correct way is? with the way i have it now iv already picked up quit a bit of oil/water in only 80 mi

Sounds like you have it reversed. Outlet on can goes to right side of engine. Edited by martha3065

Your right that people have it both ways - I believe under the throttle body goes to can inlet

i swapped my lines Thanks

ADD W-1 catch can parts, I looked into ordering parts from McMaster-Carr, the stainless screens part#2930T24 and replacement orings

part#9464K142.

It looks as though they cancelled my order "due to the complexity of export regulations"

so much for US/Canada free trade!

Just picked up a Version 1, black on Ebay tonight. Cheapest I could find. What size mesh screens did you guys get from McMaster Carr? They make them in 304 and 316 SST. I plan on using some leftover 3/8" transmission hose I have from Napa. I want to mount it as close as possible to the engine. I'm thinking firewall or brake booster area. Any long term updates on this product's quality? What is the Oz/1k miles people are catching?

Not that I'm a huge tree huger, but what is everyone doing with fluid from there catch can? I've been saving mine in a jug, but l'll need to dispose of it eventually.

^The same thing I do with the 8+ quarts I drain out of it at every oil change. Same thing I do with the 6qts I drain out of my wife's Enclave and the same thing I do with the 5qty out of my 89 blazer. Pour it into my 5 gallon used motor oil container and take it to Autozone and dump into their recycle tank. Advance has it also, most parts stores have a oil bin in the back they let you dump into. I agree that people should not just be dumping all this oil willy nilly. Probably why it's illegal for car makers to install something like this to begin with. Most commoners would probably dump while pumping gas.

    • Welcome back! No, it definitely doesn't pass the sniff test. Even "ceasefire" needs an alternative definition these days.    $5.29 at Kroger today
    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
