Recall 9100457 - N140121 - Inspect Transmission Cooler Lines

I decided I would clean my throttle body today and while doing so I discovered a couple things. First I noticed that what appears to by my transmission cooling lines are leaking. Being that I am off warranty I got to looking for the parts and came across a recall for the lines. The service history of my truck shows that these lines were previously inspected and I'm wondering if they didn't find the problem the first time will this still be covered?

The other problem I noticed is some leaking on the front of my engine. The whole thing is covered with a dirty sludge. I am assuming this is the timing cover. I've only had this truck for a week and while I love the truck I'm almost starting to regret getting rid of my toyota.

74,000 km so almost 46,000 miles.

I'm hoping GM still replaces them under the recall even thought they apparently inspected them at 47,000km 8 months ago. If the timing cover is leaking I would assume that will be covered under powertrain.

Recalls are separated from warranty. Contact your dealer and ask.

Timimg cover should be covered under the powertrain but the cooling line will not be, unless GM has given then a special coverage extension. They will never do that because they all leak.

the lines will be fixed since it was a recall, the timing cover should be under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, but I don't know if Canada gets that warranty or just the B2B one.

Leaking transmission lines are a standard option on GM trucks. I haven't had a GM truck that didn't have leaking lines. My dealer refused to replace them under warranty and wanted 800 bucks to do it, so I ordered new fittings off of rock auto for 50 bucks and fixed it myself.

Was the transmission cooling lines leaking there when you bought it a week ago? Or did they have it degreased and cleaned up so you wouldn't notice it?

Remember this thread? Several with 2014's tried to tell you that there is no way they would buy a 2014 out of warranty. I own a 2014, and there is no way that I would buy one without the bumper to bumper warranty intact. Too many recalls, too many problems. Usually it is a red flag when someone has gotten rid of one so soon. It's obvious that they didn't want to own it any longer out of the bumper to bumper warranty.

I hope you can get these things taken care of, and it will provide you many years of trouble free miles.

Good luck to you!

If u bought this at a dealer it must have some kinda warranty, 30day or so many miles,

Yes they have a 50/50 30 day warranty. I am taking it into GM on tuesday to see what they say.

I couldn't see the lines when i bought it because of the air intake in front of the throttle body.

I had just as many people tell me to buy it as tell me not to. The amount I saved on this compared to any other 2014 was worth having to replace some cooling lines in my opinion. I saved over $10,000 compared to the next lowest priced used 2014 SLT in my area.

The previous owner was a ford guy, always bought lariats. He buys a new truck every year because he eats through the warranty in less than a year with the amount of km he puts on. The reason he sold it was to get back into a new ford lariat. I don't think this will be a bad truck. As others have said transmission cooling lines always end up leaking.

If GM warranty doesn't cover it I'll most likely just cut the ends off of these lines and crimp on some new TOC line.

The recall was to inspect the fittings on the side of the transmission where the lines go into it. Hopefully they will fix it for you since it has not been long from the time you bought it.
