Magnetic Ride Control

I'm about to pull the trigger for a new 2015 Denali 1500 CC 4WD. It comes with MRC, and I would like opinions on it. I have heard nothing but good things about it, across Cadillac and GMC lines.

I do not plan to lift it or otherwise modify the suspension or ride height.

Thoughts, please?

Thanks Frank

I test drove a Denali before buying my current truck and it was hands down the best riding truck I have ever been in.

Incredible technology. Just, awesome. You will not find a better ride. Seriously reliable, but be prepared for the possibility of an expensive repair.

I have the magnetic ride control, it is a great ride. I asked if the shocks ever needed replacing and was told if they do and out of warranty 500+ each. I plan on leveling the truck 2015 CC with the 6.5' bed. The control arms for the mag ride have to be repositioned in order to level it up the 2.25" to keep the ECM from going crazy. In other notes, does anybody know if the 34 gallon tank will fit in it, its the long bed size. Thanks

I doubt I will keep any new vehicle that long. I think that a) the rate of new developments is so fast, and b) the cost of repair and the depreciation these things incur is so fast I won't ever keep a truck very long anymore.

I have a '15 Denali with MagneRide, It rides remarkably nice, very noticeably better than the SLT I also test drove. I also was very happy with how it handled while towing my big enclosed snowmobile trailer. I know some, but I'm not an expert on the MagneRide system, but while towing it sure felt like the MagneRide was doing its job and stiffened up the suspension on the truck. It still rode very smooth under the weight of the trailer tongue and had very little bounce going over bumps on the freeway.

Regarding the fuel tank. It looks like the spacing for all the components attached to the frame are identical for all the variants forward of the evap canister. The length was added to the frame behind it. The only way I see to install the longer tank is to move the evap canister forward which would require custom hard lines etc. I looked at a larger aftermarket diesel fuel tank for a CC standard bed and there are two issues...the forward end of the tank looks like it is supported by a crossmember we don't have and the evap canister is in the way.

I love mine... the ride is fantastic. On my test drive I got on the freeway, and I was going 80 and didn't realize it, incredibly smooth ride, not just for a truck, just smooth. When you get on beat up side roads, you still know it's got leaf springs in the back, but at cruising speeds, its pretty incredible.

I'm very happy with the ride quality and handling improvement. There is a noticeable difference between a Magneride Denali and the SLT demo I drove for two weeks before my truck arrived at the dealer.

Kind of like the difference between a 5.3 truck and a 6.2.

I would say be careful and test drive over a lot of bumps and dips my 2015 Denali has been in the shop a total of six times now with no repair as the magnetic ride shocks are locking up when they hit a bump or dip. I have had the gm engineer at the dealership to look at and text drive the truck and he felt the shocks lock up and can reproduce the problem with someone jumping up or down in the bed of the truck. He also hooked up a computer to the bcm and shut off the magnetic ride shocks and the problem went away. There only excuse so far is its a new suspension system and they are not sure what to do with. All I hear so far is give it more time for the dealership and the engineer to see if they can figure out something. They said they tested the other two Denali's they had on the lot and they can get them to do the same thing but when I asked to test drive them I cannot get them to do the same as my truck.

I have the truck and have put about 200 miles on it...so far so good. This is the third gen MRC, so it is not really new. Thanks for the heads-up; I'll be watching for problems.

Hate to hear that, havent had any issues with mine. Will see after the level up, the arms have to be moved down so the ECM will not go crazy. There are 26 computers onthe new denali, with all that it should drive itself, lol

It sounds like the ECM for the shocks should be changed. Have they mentioned that, when that is off its just four regular shocks.

Can you elaborate on moving the control arms down? Buy this, you mean the sensor arms, correct? Who is doing the work for you?

If you are referring to just the sensor arms, I am under the impression it's going to take more than that with Mag Ride to keep it from becoming angry. After all, you're planning on stretching out that shock 2.5"
