Parking Garages

Does anybody occasionally use a parking garage while driving their 2500? Work may bring me to a city for a year or so. Garages would be 7-8 feet for clearance. Not sure if there is a weight limit. This is for a stock 4x4 CC LT on the factory 20" wheels.

No problem. As long as garage is marked 7 feet or higher clearance. I start to take precaution once the metal radio antenna hits, then I know I have about 5 inches clearance and take it easy.

Yup, have one at work and it fits in the one at Mohegan Sun Casino

Parking garages will be fine as long as you keep your truck height as close to stock as possible. As for a weight limit, the concrete is at least 4 inches, which is a typical sidewalk or driveway depth.

The parking garage at my office is 6' 8". My stock 3500 fits in it but the antenna takes a beating. It was nerve racking at first so I had the attendant make sure I would clear.

Whenever I go to a parking deck or even a tight lot for that matter, I make sure I have a 'plan of escape" from the parking spot. With the large turning radius, its easy to get hemmed in. I find decks and lots with angled spots make it easier to maneuver

It should fit in the typical parking garage just don't level it because I leveled mine then I tried to fit in a garage that I fit in fine before and my clearance lights were literally 1 inch from concrete

Don't own a 2500, but still a pickup. From my experience the drive down the ramp on the exit can be the worst. Have had to back up a few times to get the right angle.

Thanks for the replies. I know the initial clearance is only part of the issue, with the bigger challenge coming from ramps and other uneven surfaces that may artificially increase the roof height of the vehicle. It's good to hear that these trucks are manageable in a garage.

 

I asked about weight because I know some garages have a weight limit (example: 6000 lbs).

My 2500 has fit a few Downtown Chicago Garages, but it is close and freaks my wife out. Now, having said that, I still take it slow, and going to make matters worse as I am adding a 2.5" leveling kit to level it out. Should get nice and tight but still be manageable. ( Atleast I hope so !! )

Found the first garage in Chicago (Public Parking ) that I wouldn't fit in. Garage clearance was 6'8"... 80" total, and I'm right at 82" from what I was told with the leveling kit.
