Throttle response on 6.2...

Yea, its definitely a risk albiet, a low one. If I had a 6.2/8spd I would definitely wait at least till 20-25k miles before getting one. We've had a few members on here have their low mile 6.2's grenade.

Coming from a 5.3 I was really upset with the throttler response and overall power output on my 5.3. I disliked it so much I was ready to take a hit on it and trade it in for an 2014 3.5eb. I eventually got a Black Bear tune and the truck just performs and drives so much better now. There is now a ton of torque right at tip-in and even more around 2-4k rpm. I can't imagine how the 6.2 would react to a good tune.

I'm at 20k miles and have various drive train related issues that are stopping me from a tune....I do not want to jeopardize any warranty if indeed something does fail.

Odd shifts....clunky shifts....clunky something when coasting to a stop(truck almost jumps ahead sometimes)....it might actually be up shifting for some reason.

All happen fairly often but not always

As GM says it's normal

I was experiencing the same issues with my truck. I had the torque converter replaced and 95% of those annoying traits were eliminated.

After 2500 miles I will still get a random clunk but very tolerable.

I'm in the same boat, not happy with the factory tune whatsoever but can't take the risk of blowing my warranty, sad really

The throttle response on my Denali 6.2l has been very good from day 1. I also haven't had any transmission, driveline issues or vibration issues. In fact, the throttle response on this truck is better than any of the previous 23 gm trucks that I have had.

Granted the throttle response isn't as good as my wife's Range Rover, or my Speciale; but it's definitely as good as my ecoboost work trucks.

Maybe It's possible that all of the transmission and throttle response issues are related to one another.

The 1- 2 upshifting, and the 3 - 2 - 1 downshifting on my truck was abrupt for about the first 6000 to 7000 km, but has been flawless ever since. I haven't had any vibration issues, but I did replace the wheels and tires the day I picked up my truck.

Now if I changed to tiny wheels I MIGHT get a improved throttle response too....................

This is what I may do.

Based on reading GM's info, they still have to show that a mod caused the failure.

A throttle controller isn't a "tune" in the way of adding power, changing A/F ratios, adjusting time, moving rev limiters, etc.

It's just simply tricking the throttle to believe it's opening more than it really is.

It would, in my opinion, be nearly impossible for GM to conclude that caused a failure on anything in the powertrain.

That would be like saying changing tire sizes (which tricks the speedometer) caused a major engine failure and therefore your warranty is voided.

Actually, GM would have a MUCH better argument for saying that about the tires than tricking the throttle response which does nothing to do any undue stress on the car's engine, transmission, or drivetrain.

One could argue changing the air filter to a K&N air filter is more of a cause to void a warranty than a throttle controller.

My wife drives a newer Honda Odyssey Elite, it's throttle response put's my 2017 Sierra 6.2's to shame. The Honda feels faster than the Sierra from a stop with just normal throttle application. In fact, it IS. I have to push the Sierra's throttle down 2 inches to get what I'd get in the Honda's with 1" of travel. And the Honda reacts immediately, no lag....as it should.

Honestly I haven't felt such a lagging throttle response since my 2000 VW GTI 1.8T, and that car was one of the earliest cars to have "drive by wire" throttle, and it was turbocharged. It lagged something bad, the Sierra is the worst I've had since then.

I did the #10 to #22 diode jumper mod to have my fog lights come on with my headlights. Same principle, doubtful they'll void my electrical warranty for wanting my fogs to come on with the headlights like nearly every other car made does. Once you hit the fog lights on, it remembers that setting and they comes on every time your headlights do until you physically turn them back off, or the headlights go off, again as it should.

Anybody here use the Vitesse Controller? What's your thoughts?

Yea, and I thought my 4.3's throttle response was slow. I was giggling like a 10 year old when I got to drive my parent's 2016 Yukon Denali 6.2L, love the power and instant torque from the line.
