New 2015 6.2 Max Tow Put to Workk

I received my new truck last Monday and was scheduled to depart for the April Bash in Bowling Green, Ky on that Thursday. On Thursday, with only 155 miles on the clock it was hooked to a 20 foot enclosed trailer that was carrying my 2015 C7 Z51 for a total of about 7,000 pounds. Being mindful, but obviously not adhering to the manuals suggested 500 mile break in before towing it was off to Bowling Green which is about 400 miles one way. I am very happy to report that the truck handled the hitch weight much better than my 2009 half ton with only 1.5" sqat loaded. As for the power of the 6.2 it was night and day difference as compared to my old 5.3. Even taking it easy I was able to pull 70 miles per hour with very little effort. It never exceeded 2500 rpm even on long uphill grades. Couldn't be happier and the tow mirrors are awesome when pulling a trailer that is 8'6" wide. I have zero of the reported problems that dominate this forum. Gotta love this truck!

Sure wish I could have got the 3.42's with the Denali trim. I have a 20' enclosed car hauler that I drag my C6-Z06 around with. I'll be picking up the new Denali in a couple weeks and am a bit apprehensive about how well it might pull the trailer/car around. That car hauler is like dragging a parachute behind the truck.

The max tow comes with 3.73's. My '14 high country has 3.42's and it tows pretty good. Most I've towed is 5k pounds so far. I'm hooked up to a trailer for what seems like every single day here lately lol

The '15 max tow comes with 3.42's but also has the 8 speed tranny. That's the reason I went with the max tow, the better gearing and the larger mirrors. I hardly ever tow anything but almost always have the bed loaded with a couple dirt bikes every other weekend.

NHT (max tow) is not available on 2015 high country or denali.

 

Means no 3.42's with 6.2L and no 3.73's with 5.3L on these models.

 

(5.3's will have 3.42 and 6.2's will have 3.23's)
