Anyone have any issues with there high beams

Anybody have any sort of issues with there high beams. I thought I blew the fuse on mine but turns out I blew something else because the fuse is still good and there is no power coming to the fuse at the fuse box at all. I don't know where to look to fix or replace what went. Anybody experience this or have any tips ?

I would say its not your problem, take it to the dealer if you're under warranty. High beams on these trucks are the same bulb as the low beam. When you turn your high beams on power is sent to a solenoid that operates a cut off shield. That cut off shield flips up out of the way and allows all the light to project.

Depends on the truck, not all of the Sierra's use the projector setup.

Yes....they do. All the Sierras use a projector setup....

The Silverado's on the other hand have either a projector style low beam w/ reflector highbeam, or a reflector low and reflector high.

Trying to avoid the dealership. According to the schematic there is a relay in the fuse block under the hood. And I pulled all the relays there are under the hood and they are all good. But there is no relay labeled for the high beams or anything that might be related. So I'm lost. Not done looking into it

If the truck was still under warranty, let a dealership service department get the headache. If you didn't like the last one, find another. It doesn't have to be the same brand; for example I have not set foot in a GMC dealership since I took delivery of my truck. Oil change and warranty work have been done at a Chevrolet dealership where I have a friend who works as a mechanic there.

The systems in these trucks run on computer data bus, this is not for the average truck owner anymore without a proper diagnostic equipment. Did you know that the BCM is capable of controlling headlights independently? It can make the truck "wink" ;) Your problem might be a "glitch" which might require reprogramming the BCM. Do you have access to GM database and proper equipments to do it?

His signature shows a 2500HD Sierra. I assume these headlights are different setup than the 1500 Sierra.

HD headlights are the same as far as I know. Also he mentioned he thought he blew a fuse. I'm gonna guess he was doing something he shouldn't have and doesn't want to take it to the dealer. Either that or he has it programmed etc. Which also might be the cause.

Just an FYI, by trying to fix it yourself and not being able to... the dealer might say that you caused the issue and actually deny you warranty if you do end up having to take it in. Just take your truck into the dealer for issues like this, ESPECIALLY if you still have warranty.

They might not want to warranty it. All I did was jumper in my light bar to come on with my high beam and apparently I bumped my signal light switch so when I wired the switch it arced and blew whatever it ended up blowing but not the fuse.

I hope you didn't try to power the light bar with your high beams. If so you probably cooked something. Highbeams just get a signal sent to them to flip a solenoid to open the cut off. You should have ran a relay to sense that signal and connect the light bar to your battery.

If this is the case it sounds like you may have fried the high beam shutter output signal from the controller (body control module?). You probably need to check that signal with a voltmeter.

I take it your headlight bulbs still come on with low beam and high beam, but the high beam shutter doesn't work anymore to refocus the bulb output up higher on high beam.

As projectsummit said you fried something in the circuit and should have NEVER taped into the headlight circuit to wire your light bar, surprised something didn't catch on fire.
