When I bought mine I was told the app is free for 5 years if I keep OnStar or not.

I bought mine used so does that 5 year still apply?

You had an Onstar and warranty comment on another thread, my response apply here also. 2015 models have a basic Onstar plan for 5 years, trucks prior to 2015 does not have a 5 year basic Onstar plan. You would have to research what options still apply after your expiration date regardless if you bought used or not.

That is what I was told.

Off topic how long will these run if started by the remote starter?

IIRC, it's the same as when started with the fob.

As long as you used the phone app at least once during your free 6 mo. period, then the phone app will continue to work for 5 years.

yes the app is 5 years, but I believe you don't get the send to nav/head unit feature if you don't pay for the onstar navigation. Which I think is ridiculous and another reason why i wouldn't even consider it.

Why do you have to pay for navigation (which we already have in our 50k plus trucks) to be able to use an app feature that just sends it to the unit?

Does anyone actually ever call onstar and ask for directions? Just use your phone or nav unit imo

When my free sub is active, I call them all the time. If I am driving, it is quicker and easier than using my phone actually.

my wife calls on star for directions all the time. It puts the directions right on the screen she loves it.

Onstar, no, but I might keep XM.

If Onstar would sell me a block of data (3 or 5 GB) that didn't expire at the end of the month I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I love the wifi but hate the month to month part and AT&T hasn't been an option in my area.
