Increasing The Search Radius

Does anyone have any idea how to increase the search radius to find inventory through GM's website? Or is there another option/website? I need to go out of town to find the Denali I want, and it's frustrating and time consuming to have to search through 20 different zip codes just to get within a couple hundred miles. I'd love to just be able to punch in my options and have it spit out every dealership across the country that has one in stock or has one on the way.

You try your dealer? They can locate from GM not sure the radius but they can exclude or include the exact options you want.

Yeah what I did was look at the cities in surrounding states and entered their zip codes into the search box or as stated above let your dealer find one. That's how I found my 09 when I was looking.

I believe they can search nation wide but typically don't. They don't want to waste their time on someone going else where to buy. Now if they find something within say 200 miles they can dealer trade and bring it to you.

Maybe it's just me, but I am finding dealers around me are very uninterested in going out of their way for a sale, which blows my mind. Business must be good. I have worked with three dealers in the area, and after they did their searches about a month ago, I had to tell THEM where to look to find the truck I wanted. I do have an acquaintance at a Chevy dealership that can and has done favors for me (pull invoice sheets, do larger searches), but I hate to take advantage. And sometimes it's just easier (and more fun) to do it myself, but I would like it do be a LITTLE easier.

 

I talked to someone at Laura the other day, and he flat out told me a dealer trade would not be possible. I wonder if other dealers are unwilling to work with them because of their aggressive pricing.

Yeah, that's what I've found. It's not worth a trade for them at larger distances.

Sales are strong here so it was crazy trying to get a dealer to work with me for what I wanted. Try asking for a crew cab standard box and get short box after short box shown to you

I would just search using cars.com. You can see trucks pretty much however close or far away you want to. If you find one you like, most dealers provide links through that site for live chat and/or email. Or you could find a few, go to your dealer and ask them to go get it.

_{I used cars.com, and opened up my search radius to 500 miles. Found my Truck in Arkansas. IMO the cars.com search engine allows for more specific filtering than the GM search.}

I agree with Steve and Jeremy. Cars.com will allow you to search within 10,000 miles of your zip code (using unlimited distance) and you can input options through the keywords feature. Dealers will also post their bottom line pricing on cars.com, whereas the GM sites only show you MSRP or specific sales (like the 20% off on SLT).

Cars.com doesn't seem to cover every dealer.

 

GM websites did not show several vehicles that I found at local dealers.

 

My local dealer did however find trucks for me all over the place.

Your local dealer isn't going to do you any good. The 20% off trucks are a hot commodity and no dealer that has one will trade it. Your dealer knows this. As a result, they have zero interest in investing their time in finding you a truck that you'll end up buying from a different dealer.

 

Use cars.com select what you're searching for, set your search radius, then look at the cheapest ones. Many dealers are advertising them with all rebates applied, so they're at the bottom of the list. Get the full details from the actual selling dealer's site.

I use cars.com , autotrader, and car gurus to find stuff off the grid.

 

I probably don't find them all, but its a damn sight better than trying to balance the "service" of a dealer going into his network when I can spot it online, negotiate with the folks who have it on their floor plan, and drive it home that day.

First off, my bad from my last post on using your local dealer.. I thought you were looking for a truck that qualified for the 20% off MSRP. I realize now that isn't the case because you're looking at a Denali and those don't qualify.
